So I've always loved a good galaxy scene, but hadn't really tackled the Northern Lights look. I decided to make two cards, because once you try this type of background, you just have to make more! For the first card, I used the following Distress Oxides: From left to right I did: Black Soot, Chipped Sapphire, Hickory Smoke, Peacock Feathers, Lucky Clover, Hickory Smoke, Chipped Sapphire, and Black Soot. You know that saying imitation is the sincerest form of flattery? Well, when I saw this card by Heidi Baks I fell in love with it and just had to give the technique a try for myself. The background was created on a piece of white cardstock using a variety of ink colours. The black base (hills) was hand cut and used to create a guide to stamp the trees and then glued in place. The sentiment was embossed in white and the card front, followed by a border piece of white cardstock and then a green background were all adhered to the card base. A…

I am very excited to be participating in Kylie's International Blog Highlights this month with Stampin' Up! Demonstrators from all over the world! I will never forget the one and only time I saw the Northern Lights. I was in my early 20's and living in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada at the time. I could hear the neighbours outside and they sounded very excited! I went outside and could not believe my eyes! I had never heard of the Northern Lights, aka Aurora Borealis, and was completely blown…
