D Whigham Ceramics on Instagram: "Glaze day! Finishing up the last pieces for the Omaha North Hills Pottery tour. Real time clips of what goes into glazing. Anyone else always underestimate how long glazing will take? There really are so many steps and I even forgot to record applying wax resist to the bottoms. Can’t wait see these pots finished!

ClareUngerCeramics on Instagram: "Liquid wax is colourless so it can be tricky to see if you’ve missed an area when painting or if you’ve accidentally put it in the wrong place! The green food colouring makes the wax visible and magically disappears after firing.

Here I’m using the wax as a glaze resist. The outside of this porcelain cup is going to be unglazed except for the rim and the handle. The wax makes it easier to dip these two areas (rim and handle) into the glaze bucket without glaze getting onto the textured area (which is difficult to remove glaze from).

This texture is from a crochet sampler made by Sarah from Bombed Yarn in Tasmania who I made these cups for.
