OT
An initialism of "overtime."
1. Additional work hours beyond what one is scheduled or required to do, as at a job. Please tell me we get paid extra for OT. I don't want to stay here two more hours for the same lousy pay I normally make. Dad's working OT tonight, so he won't be home till late.
2. Pay for such work. I'm only staying if we get OT for this. Otherwise, who cares? It's not like the work won't still be here in the morning!
3. sports Additional playing time after regulation has concluded, as in the event of a tie. And it's Jones with the winner in OT! Game over, Hawks win 4–3! If they don't break this tie in the next minute, we're going to OT.
