(one) puts (one's) pants on one leg at a time

Someone being spoken of or referred to is just an ordinary human being. Used especially in reference to someone who is of an elevated social status, such as a celebrity, star athlete, member of royalty, etc. The phrase is often followed by "just like everybody else." Primarily heard in US. Because our only interaction with celebrities is through the media, it's easy to forget that they put their pants on one leg at a time, just like everybody else. The superstar comedian's latest non-fiction book provides a quirky insight into her day-to-day life, and reminds you that she puts her pants on one leg at a time just like the rest of us. I might be the youngest billionaire in the world, but I still put my pants on one leg at a time!

el cheapo

1. noun, slang Someone who is very reluctant to spend money. Can be used as a humorous title, in which case it is capitalized. OK, El Cheapo, I'll pay for it then, geez. He's such an el cheapo! Geez, I'll pay for it then. Hey, El Cheapo, relax—I know a parking lot that only charges $3.00.
2. adjective, slang Describing something that is inexpensive and, often, poorly made. Yes, I'm trying to wrap the gift, but I keep tearing this el cheapo wrapping paper. Is anyone surprised that that el cheapo off-brand toy has already broken? Why would you get the el cheapo toilet paper? That's just stupid!

El Dorado

Any place that offers or is believed to offer great opportunities or wealth. The fabled South American city of El Dorado was thought to hold spectacular treasure. I bet the many people who flocked to California during the Gold Rush thought they'd ended up in El Dorado. OK, if someone insists that they hold the keys to El Dorado, that is a clear sign not to invest in their business. You need to lower your expectations of LA because you're talking about it like it's El Dorado, and not just another city where dreams go to die.

To try to find some place that offers or is believed to offer great opportunities or wealth. The legendary South American city of El Dorado was thought to hold spectacular treasure and was sought by explorers in the 16th and 17th centuries. Many people flocked to California seeking El Dorado during the Gold Rush of 1848. Far fewer actually found riches, though.
