Krystal Duran on Instagram: "Orchid are epiphytes. They grow on top of other plants and are not anchored in the soil. Epiphytes take up their nutrients from water, air, and debris around them. Living in Indiana, fall and winter temperatures get less than 55 degrees consistently which would prevent us from being able to anchor orchids or other plants to trees so this will just have to do. When choosing a board, choose one that is rot resistant. I used cork bark since it doesn’t rot but it’s also very easy to make holes in. It’s fairly plyable. Hang in a spot that will get light, water the moss when it’s almost dry, and you can incorporate liquid orchid fertilizer in the water when blooms fall off. Now we can live our orchid hanging dreams… inside 🌸 #plantstylist #orchidlove #plan Orchid On Wall, Orchid In Driftwood, Orchid Landscape Ideas, Unique Orchid Planters, Wall Orchids Ideas, Orchid Growing On Trees, Orchid On Tree Trunk, Hanging Orchid Planter, Orchid Ideas Hanging

HousePlantParadise on Instagram: "My biggest pet peeve of taking care of orchids is not knowing how their roots are doing. This terracotta tower provides just enough water for the plants to drink without over or under hydrating them. 📸: @pvplantguy This is my first time using it and I decided to try it out with a few orchids, of course! I’m excited to only have to keep the tower filled as opposed to watering a bunch of orchids individually. I can’t say what will happen, so I guess you’ll just have to follow along to see how everything adapts over the next couple of weeks! Of note, I filmed this directly after tying the orchids to the terracotta with fishing wire. This is the beginning and I do not yet have long-term results. #terracotta #plants #planty #diy #houseplanttips #orchid #orc Orchid Tower, Care Of Orchids, Fishing Wire, Orchid Planters, Pet Peeves, Orchid Care, The Tower, Terracotta Pots, Say What
