a classroom with colorful rugs and toys on the floor

For a pre-k classroom working on letter recognition! Use tape on the floor as you would for students to help student line up but place stars or any shape you would like on the line where their feet should be. Each star has a letter of the alphabet. You can make great line up transition games with this. I also put words along the sides of the letters so it acts like a word wall but it's called a word walk.

there are pictures of different things made out of paper and scissors on the floor, including star cutouts

DIY seating. Foam stars from the Dollar tree Use the hard side of the stick on velcro Then slap it on your carpet... I will probably put the student names/numbers on them if they seem to need assigned seating.

a child is sitting on the floor in front of an area made out of colored squares

This is the "magic rug". There are 30 spots each 2 ft by 2 ft for my kindergartners to sit on for stories and group lessons. It was my friend's idea. I used colored duct tape and indoor/outdoor carpeting. The whole project was way cheaper than the carpets they have in school catalogs. There are many different ways you can make this and the kids love sitting on it!

i love sitspots on the floor with polka dots and a heart in it

I have a love affair with my rainbow carpet. It is so bright and cheerful with 20 little squares to sit upon. 20 spots for 29 kids! I declare this a CARPET CRISIS. I have been trying to work it out and came up with this at the beginning of the school year. This only works until I get 3 more students or my custodian goes searching for the missing rugs I “borrowed”. I am sick of this rainbow rug crisis and the pee-pee stains on it. Since I have declared my rainbow rug dead, I am now a rainbow…
