Teach student about communicating with light and sound using a sorting activity. Students sort the pictures and tell what the light or sound communicates to us. Great to incorporate into a light and sound unit for kindergarten and first grade.

Squawking Chickens! Students made a crowing chicken sound by pulling on a string to set up a vibration. They discovered how to make the different chicken sounds by moving the sponge at different speeds. Slinky Sound Students investigated sound further by discovering that sound can travel through solids. They used cups and different sized Slinky's to hear vibrating sounds.

These sound experiments are fun and engaging! They're perfect science lessons for 1st graders and are aligned with NGSS for teaching sound.
