Such technology is intended to support variety of IP-based heterogeneous traffic types. Traffic scheduling has a very significant impact in LTE technology by assigning the shared resources among users very efficiently. This paper discusses the performance of three types of scheduling algorithms namely: Round Robin, best Channel Quality Indicator (CQI) and Proportional Fair (PF) schedulers representing the extreme cases in scheduling. The scheduling algorithms performances on the downlink were measured in terms of throughput and block error rate by using a MATLAB-based system level simulation. Results indicate that the best CQI algorithm outperforms the other algorithms in terms of throughput levels but on the expense of fairness to other users suffering from bad channel conditions.

As MIPv6 and its enhancements (i.e. HMIPv6) possess some limitations like higher handoff latency, packet loss, NEMO BSP also faces all these shortcomings by inheritance. Network Mobility (NEMO) is involved to handle the movement of Mobile Router (MR) and it's Mobile Network Nodes (MNNs) during handoff. Hence it is essential to upgrade the performance of mobility management protocol to obtain continuous session connectivity with lower delay and packet loss in NEMO environment. The completion of handoff process in NEMO BSP usually takes longer period since MR needs to register its single primary care of address (CoA) with home network that may cause performance degradation of the applications running on Mobile Network Nodes. Moreover, when a change in point of attachment of the mobile network is accompanied by a sudden burst of signaling messages, "Signaling Storm" occurs which eventually results in temporary congestion, packet delays or even packet loss. This effect is particularly significant for wireless environment where a wireless link is not as steady as a wired link since bandwidth is relatively limited in wireless link. Hence, providing continuous Internet connection without any interruption through applying multihoming technique and route optimization mechanism in NEMO are becoming the center of attention to the current researchers. In this paper, we propose a handoff cost model to compare the signaling cost of MM-NEMO with NEMO Basic Support Protocol (NEMO BSP) and HMIPv6.The numerical results shows that the signaling cost for the MM-NEMO scheme is about 69.6 % less than the NEMO-BSP and HMIPv6.

Gait recognition refers to identify a human by the style/way, a person walks in image sequences. The objective of this paper is to implement the traditional gait recognition algorithm and to show the variation in gait recognition when subject is observed parallel to camera under three conditions-walking normal, carrying a bag and wearing a coat. In this work, we are devising a novel method for the purpose of similarity computation rather than the traditional recognition where 78.57% of overall recognition rate was obtained. Furthermore, noise is introduced to evaluate its effect on the recognition rate.

However, a substantial size of this accumulated amount is discarded anyhow. The processing capabilities have been considered as one of the major barriers in the way of exploiting this priceless mine. Therefore, the issue has absorbed considerable part of researchers' concentration. OLAP has been considered as a powerful method for analysing excessive size of data that works closely to intelligent business, medical fields. Yet, such a method will always need increasing processing resources. Numerous enhancements have been suggested in order to improve OLAP performance, part of them has gone to the processing capabilities whereby parallel processing has occupied a sizeable space. A heterogeneous computing is a relatively recent approach that is being under examination. In this paper, through experimental results and based on Rabin-Karp Algorithm; we propose an optimized heterogeneous solution that takes into account the benefits and the boundaries in order to achieve a better OLAP performance in terms of response time with three times gain. In the light of our results; we present the achieved gain and possible future trends.

Our aim is to implement the traditional gait recognition algorithm and to show the variation in gait recognition when subject is observed parallel to camera under three conditions- walking normal, carrying a bag and wearing a coat. However in this case, the work devises a novel method for the purpose of similarity computation rather than the traditional recognition where the overall recognition rate of 78.57 percent was obtained.

To provide an automated and widely distributed energy delivery, the smart grid will be branded by a two-way flow of electricity and information system between energy suppliers and their customers. Thus, the smart grid is a power grid that integrates data communication networks which provide the collected and analysed data at all levels in real time. Therefore, the performance of communication systems is so vital for the success of smart grid. Merit to the ZigBee/IEEE802.15.4std low cost, low power, low data rate, short range, simplicity and free licensed spectrum that makes wireless sensor networks (WSNs) the most suitable wireless technology for smart grid applications. Unfortunately, almost all ZigBee channels overlap with wireless local area network (WLAN) channels, resulting in severe performance degradation due to interference. In order to improve the performance of communication systems, this paper proposes an optimal throughput and self-adaptability of ZigBee/IEEE802.15.4std for smart grid.

Thus, communication channels play a core role in SCADA systems implementation. The use of wireless sensor network (WSN) communication can, however, lead to a more flexible and powerful electric power systemprotection scenarios than the current used wired sensor. Hence, in order to provide a real-time data exchange in Low Voltage Smart Grid Distribution Systems and thus, predict a Real-time electric power system control, a Novel IEEE802.15.4 Protocol aimed atWSN for Modern SCADA Communication System is modeled in this paper. The protocol performance is evaluated using NS-2 Simulation and the preliminary results are encouraging.

Due to Zigbee/IEEE 802.15.4 standard's features such as low cost, low power, low data rate, short range, simplicity and free licensed spectrum which makes Zigbee-based wireless sensor networks (WSNs) the wireless technology of choice for smart grid applications. This paper focuses on the electricity distribution layer, ranging from Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) gateways at the house-hold to the distribution point where a multi-hop mesh network is built for large coverage data exchanges. Although beacon-based mode of operation is adopted in IEEE802.15.4 standard, it does not, however, specify any mechanism to enable beacon mode in mesh networks. Therefore, in this paper, the Zigbee/IEEE 802.15.4 MAC protocol is modified to suit the beacon-based wireless sensor multi-hop mesh networks application. Such network configuration is expected to proliferate in is smart grid auto-metering scenarios. A simulation model was built and validated using the network simulator (NS-2) and the preliminary results showed considerable enhancements as expected for the ZigBee/IEEE 802.15.4 MAC protocol.

In order to support mobile network, a management mechanism of Network Mobility Basic Support Prot... more In order to support mobile network, a management mechanism of Network Mobility Basic Support Protocol (NEMO BSP) has been standardized by Information Engineering Task Force (IETF). NEMO BSP is an extension of Mobile IPv6 (MIPv6) and inherits all the shortcomings like higher handoff latency, packet loss etc. As Network Mobility (NEMO) is engaged to manage the movement of Mobile Router (MR) and it's Mobile Network Nodes (MNNs) during handoff, it is very important to improve the performance of mobility management protocol to achieve continuous Internet connectivity with lower delay and packet loss in NEMO environment. When a change in point of attachment of the mobile network is accompanied by a sudden burst of signaling messages, "Signaling Storm" occurs and it ultimately results in temporary congestion, handoff delays, or even packet loss. This effect is especially noteworthy for wireless environment where bandwidth is relatively limited. Therefore providing uninterrupted Internet connection through applying multihoming technique in NEMO is becoming most significant areas for current researchers. The purpose of this paper is to give a general overview on existing mobility management approaches which enable multihoming and network based mobility protocol with NEMO in an integrated manner. Furthermore, it highlights the strengths and the limitations of these schemes for future analysis.

A new shape triple-band microstrip antenna is proposed in this paper. By embedding h-shaped slots placed in the centre of a microstrip patch, the triple-band character can be achieved. Procedures to select the length and location of the h-shaped slots were discussed in detail. The required antenna gain, input impedance, radiation pattern and return losses were achieved.
