YES IT CAN! Just change the time that the banana peels soak in the water. For acid plants, allow to steep for at least two weeks. For plants that like a more neutral soil, only steep for 3 days. It’s that easy! 
Banana peel fertilizer is high in potassium, which increases root growth and improves drought resistance. It’s also high in calcium, which prevents blossom end rot.
This fertilizer works great on any plant, but it’s especially good on tomatoes, peppers and flowers. Do it and teach those kids too:)
