There are two main types of lung sounds:

✅ NORMAL SOUNDS
👉 Types: Tracheal, vesicular, and bronchovesicular 
🏥 Cause: Good health

❌ ABNORMAL SOUNDS

👉 Type: Fine or Coarse Crackles “Rales”
🏥 Cause: Pneumonia, heart failure

👉 Type: Wheezing
🏥 Cause: Asthma or COPD

👉 Type: Pleural Friction Rub
🏥 Cause: Inflammation of pleura

👉 Type: Rhonchi
🏥 Cause: Bronchitis or COPD

👉 Type: Stridor
🏥 Cause: Croup, epiglottitis, airway obstruction

⚠️ NCLEX Tip: Stridor is a harsh sound (seal bark) that can signal an airway obstruction and should be reported to the HCP immediately.
