Charlotte on Instagram: "Every year I harvest hazel to build plant supports 🌳 This year I thought I’d try something different by weaving ash splints (the ones harvested in my last reel) through the poles, rather than working with more hazel.  This has given me a chance to get a feel for the ash before working on more intricate weaving projects. The splints were soaked before use to increase flexibility.   When the garden is still looking pretty bare, there is something really reassuring and uplifting about busying myself in preparation for what is to come. Harvesting canes and brush; building structures and supports; mulching pathways - all become creative acts in building form.
