Line game for kindergarten and 1st grade I wasn't sure how this game would work with my kiddos but it has been a great success. I used to create games like this when I was a classroom teacher for students' sight words and math facts, so why not for art?! You need the game board I created above, a dry erase marker, dice, baby wash cloth (to wipe the boards when the game is over) and a basket. I bought the dice and baby wash cloths at the Dollar Tree. I laminated the game board with my…

I had a few of you ask to share exactly how we created our plaid patterns for the backgrounds of the quick snowman project my 2nd graders created, so I thought I would share how I approached it and how we made it work for our class! Hope you find it helpful ❤️

Nylah Khan on Instagram: "We read Larry the Line by author and art teacher extraordinaire @cassie_stephenz in art class and it was just the PERFECT way to kick start the new school year! Im so excited about pairing this fun book with my grayscale lines lesson! 🖤🩶🤍 my students loved Larry,! It makes for an easy line review for any elementary grade!

Day 1:
Read the book, Larry the Line by
Cassie Stephens. We learn and discuss the various kinds of lines from the book!
Then we proceed to painting different kinds of lines with black paint on white paper after we learn how to hold our @royallangnickelclassroom brush, paint with it, etc. We only paint the black lines on the first day. This allows the black lines to completely dry before the next step of adding color.

A clever trick I mak Different Kinds Of Lines, Line Lesson, Kinds Of Lines, First Grade Art, Cassie Stephens, Im So Excited, Brush Paint, Black Lines, The New School

Kit Lang on Instagram: "What do you consider choice based art? For my sanity, I create lessons where students have the same materials, same guidelines and boundaries but provide lots of choice i.e. colors, pattern, details. This lesson from @rhymeswithorange_primaryart is a perfect example. Inspired by the artwork of @barbaragilhooly student drew and painted the shape and style of their building and then added lines, shapes and colors to build pattern and make their build their own. I will never be fully choice based but believe I have found the best blend of structure and choice for me and my students. . . . . . #barbaragilhooly #gilhooly #buildings #primaryart #primaryartteacher #artteacher #elementaryartteacher #elementaryart #artes #iteachart #artteachersofinstagram #artteachers Choice Based Art Lessons, Architecture Lessons, Choice Based Art, Line Art Projects, Line Art Lesson, Shapes Lessons, Student Drawing, Shapes And Colors, Arts Ed

I wanted my students to have a better understanding of how to use rhythm and movement to enhance their artwork. To start I had them wash a paper with water and layer water colors one at a time. After applying each color, the students would lift their papers and let the colors drip and blend. The 2nd graders LOVED this. The next class, to continue the theme, we talked about the use of Lines in our artwork and how different types of lines give the feel of movement. The student then used black…
