Shetland Lace Knitting is a particular style of knitting that developed in the Shetland Islands and was one of the main exports of the Island early in the last century.

How a knitting tradition rooted in a cluster of tiny islands in the North Sea came to be transplanted to an island country in the southern Pacific Ocean.

Located in Lerwick, the capital town of Shetland, Jamieson & Smith, are long established as the islands primary purchaser of the Shetland Wool clip. We annually purchase the raw fleece from over 700 local crofters andfarmers.
