Julija Gobere on Instagram: "When I tried this first time, I was blown away - gathering fabric AND attaching it with one seam?! What kind of magic is this🤯🤯🤯

Gathering foot was perfect for making my tulle underskirt and allowed to make it in just one hour👌

For this technique, remember key moments:
* Increase thread tension. The more tension, the more gathers you’ll get. For my tulle underskirt, I used max tension (9 setting on Singer Heavy Duty) and it gathered fabric about 4x it’s original length;
2) Increase stitch length (I used 5mm stitch);
3) Put fabric you DON’T want to gather in the slot and fabric you WANT to gather under the presser foot. Overlap layers by 1cm or more.

And that’s it, start sewing with straight stitch and let the magic happen 🙌

Sarah Hambly on Instagram: "60 second documentaries meet 60 second tulle tutorials: this is a quick and dirty on how to make big tulle skirts. They are HARD per se, but they require lots of steps to make it happen. From bolts and bolts of tulle (get the cheap stuff for your under layers, the more expensive stuff for the outer layers) to hours of steam (between each tier is honestly the best) and even fighting the trimming of the skirt (it’s its own beast I cannot help you with that I fear) these skirts are aesthetically please and require no other under structure than just tulle (unless you want a hoop skirt underneath for even MORE volume) I would love to see you all try this, whether you make skirts or jackets or dresses, it’s just a fun unique idea perfect for balls!"
