Dill Pickles
Refrigerator Dill Pickles Ingredients: • 1 ½ pounds pickling (Kirby) cucumbers⁣ • 2-4 cloves garlic, crushed or cut in half⁣ • 2 teaspoons dill seed⁣ • 1 cups white or apple cider vinegar⁣ • 1 cup water⁣ • 2 teaspoons table or canning salt⁣ Instructions: • Wash the cucumbers and trim about ⅛-inch off both ends. This removes the blossom ends which can make the pickles soft. Cut into slices or spears.⁣ • Place the garlic cloves and dill seed into a quart container or divide evenly between two pint jars.⁣ • Pack the cucumber into the jar(s). They should be tight but not squeezed into the jar. You want to avoid bruising or crushing them. ⁣ • Combine the vinegar, water, and salt in a small pot. Bring to a boil. Hack - if you ever have cucumbers that are on the brink of going bad, use them to make these pickles. No food waste! INGREDIENTS -1 English cucumber -1/2 cup water -1/2 cup white vinegar -1 tablespoon kosher salt (or 2 teaspoons sea salt, table salt, pink salt, etc) -3 sprigs fresh dill (or 1 tablespoon dried dill) -1 teaspoon black peppercorns -1 clove of garlic, smashed or finely chopped DIRECTIONS 1. Slice the cucumber however you like 2. Add all the ingredients to a pint size mason jar and close with the lid. Gently shake to distribute all the ingredients around the cucumbers. 3. Refrigerate overnight. 4. Enjoy! 5. Will keep in the refrigerator for at least a month.
