This heart pendant is made from Mokume Gane, a process of metal fabrication that dates back to the age of the Samurai. It involves fusing two or more alloys that are then carved, twisted, sanded, or otherwise manipulated to produce a pattern similar to wood grain. In this case, the metals I used were sterling silver, brass, and a Japanese alloy called Shibuichi. In the center, as though bursting from a volcano, is an African Welo Opal. The accent stone at the top, beneath the scrolls in the bail, is a faceted citrine. The pendant measures 2 inches from the tip to the top of the bail. Mokume Gane Heart Pendant With Welo Opal
This heart pendant is made from Mokume Gane, a process of metal fabrication that dates back to the age of the Samurai. It involves fusing two or more alloys that are then carved, twisted, sanded, or otherwise manipulated to produce a pattern similar to wood grain. In this case, the metals I used were sterling silver, brass, and a Japanese alloy called Shibuichi. In the center, as though bursting from a volcano, is an African Welo Opal.
