"The school curriculum is a tool, which, in a way, determines the didactic choices of a teacher. Teachers should therefore, know the curriculum, textbooks, the rules and laws of the education system and, as a whole, the state’s role in education". (Shulman (1986) in Liakopoulou(2011. p. 69).
Thus, if teachers are unequipped with the content knowledge which is needed to make them appear scholarly, how effective can teaching and learning be in such system. Therefore, this National Teacher Education Curriculum is intended to address the many gaps face within teacher education and if adopted, will go a long way in improving the quality of teaching and learning in Liberia.
