In the context of English language teaching, PBL is a classroom instruction method which is characterized through student-centered learning, real world language practice, group work learning, encourage voice and choice activity, and project or performance presentation. This study focused on investigating the effectiveness of PBL approach among primary students on their English skills. There are five main aspect presented in this study. First, the study of the demographic profile of EFL teachers in Nonthaburi. Second, the adherence of EFL teacher in PBL approach criteria after mentioned above. Third, the student’s English skills performance in four skills (Speaking, Listening, Writing and Reading). Fourth, the relationship of the teachers’ profile and he students’ English skills performance. Lastly, The relationship between the adherence of the teachers to PBL approach criteria and the students’ English skills performance. This quantitative research primarily employed descriptive-survey design principles, in which EFL teachers to primary students in Nonthaburi’s perceptions were gathered, analyzed, and interpreted to obtain an overall picture of the status quo in terms of English learning using PBL approach in the locale. The importance of language skills, acquisition of language skills among young learners, the English language in Thai culture, an overview of PBL approach, and the use of PBL in an EFL classroom were studied in the review of literature. The study made the following conclusions. Teachers of EFL to primary students in Nonthaburi province are relatively young but old enough to be licensed teachers and there is a relative balanced distribution of teaching level amongst EFL teacher in Nonthaburi Province. Teachers in Nonthaburi adheres to the Project Based Learning approach criteria in a very high level. Primary students in Nonthaburi has a minimal English skills performance. The profile variable age considered to be significant with the students’ English skills performance in speaking and listening but not significant with reading and writing. All other profile variables are not significant in all four skills. There is no significant relationship between the respondents’ adherence to PBL approach criteria and students’ English skills performance. The research also determined seven recommendations. School administrators must make sure that the school curriculum with PBL approaches are feasible and doable. Strict evaluation in teachers’ part must be observed. Teachers must make sure that PBL activities are age appropriate. The use of daily writing homework with a need for classroom oral reporting is an effective PBL approach to be use. Teachers should make sure that classroom interactions and actual language production should be part of assessment tests and indicators for English performance of the students. PBL holistic trainings and seminars for EFL teachers should be conducted. A further research must be conducted to fully realized the effectiveness of PBL approach to the English performance of primary students.
