It is desirable that robots be capable to acquire the information they need to perform actions and make decisions. Any mobile or humanoid robot will need to construct a spatial representation or model of the surrounding environment that allows it to move and execute tasks with success. The reconstruction of an environment is an important and useful capability for these kind of robots. In order to construct a model, the robot needs to obtain information through a series of acquisitions from its sensors by solving occlusions. Therefore, an important issue is how to plan these robot placements (views) optimally, according to certain criteria for the purpose of reconstructing a complete model automatically. In this work we present a view planning algorithm to solve the problem of 3D modelling for indoor environments; the algorithm uses a volumetric representation as a reasoning domain. In this paper we propose the use of probability distribution functions as a model for the desirable behavior of the system, considering perception range data. The method uses a maximum a posteriori estimator to find the perception system parameters that defines the next best view position. We present results in simulation for a five degrees of freedom robot with a 3D range camera mounted on it to validate our approach.

Animals were treated with IL-1Ra or PEG sTNFRI for 7 days, after which new vessels were quantified. In a parallel study, male Lewis rats with mycobacteria-induced adjuvant-induced arthritis were treated with IL-1Ra or PEG sTNFRI for 7 days beginning at disease onset, after which scores for inflammation and bone erosion as well as capillary counts were acquired from sections of arthritic hind paws.A corneal angiogenesis assay was performed by implanting nylon discs impregnated with an angiogenic stimulator (basic fibroblast growth factor or vascular endothelial growth factor) into one cornea of female Sprague-Dawley rats. Two of these genera were directly studied as groups of interest, three as external taxonomic outgroups, and one as operative outgroup. Representatives of Ramariopsis sensu Corner formed a monophyletic group, supported by the cyanophilous nature of their basidiospores and derivation of their ornamentation from the tunica. The new combination, Clavulinopsis antillarum, is proposed. Corner (1950) elevated the taxon to genus level and included several fibulate species with branched, whitish basidiomes, monomitic hyphal systems, and echinulate spores. He retained Clavaria kunzei [= Ramariopsis kunzei (Fr.) Corner] as the type species, removing three species-C. angulispora, C. pyxidata and C. subtilis-and adding eight more for a total of ten species in the genus. Petersen (1964) added two more species after examining the type specimens of various species of the genus Clavulinopsis.

First, we study how an external magnetic field affects their Goldstone physics in the chiral limit, stressing that there is a long-range component of the field that penetrates the superconductor. We note that the most remarkable effect of the applied field is giving a mass to the charged pions and kaons. By estimating this effect, we see that for values e B ∼ 2 f π ∆, where ∆ is the quark gap, and f π the pion decay constant, the charged Goldstone bosons become so heavy, that they turn out to be unstable. The symmetry breaking pattern is then changed, agreeing with that of the magnetic color-flavor locked (MCFL) phase, recently proposed in hep-ph/0503162. Finally, we discuss the physics of the superfluid phonon of the CFL phase, compare it with that of the phonon of a Bose-Einstein condensate, and discuss transport phenomena at low temperature. Astrophysical implications of all the above low energy properties are also commented.

The present study aimed to develop a protocol for genetic transformation of this palm species; evaluating reporter genes, transformation methods, and conditions for the use of antibiotics to select transformed plant cells. The gene gusA was first used for Agrobacterium tumefaciens mediated transformation of coconut embryogenic calli. However, endogenous GUS-like activity was found in calli not co-cultured with bacteria. Then essays for Agrobacterium-mediated transformation were developed using green and red fluorescent genes. Both genes are suitable as reporter genes for coconut transformation. In order to establish a protocol for coconut genetic transformation, an approach was used that combined biobalistics to generate micro-wounds in explants, vacuum infiltration and co-culture with Agrobacterium tumefaciens (C58C1 + pER10W-35SRed containing the embryogenesis related gene WUSCHEL). Calli treated with the combined protocol showed red fluorescence with greater intensity and greater area than calli treated with either biobalistics or infiltration, followed by bacteria co-culture. PCR amplification of DNA extracts from transformed embryogenic callus produced a band with the expected size using WUSCHEL primers (862 bp). No band was obtained using the VirE2 primers. This is the first report of transient genetic transformation of C. nucifera and it is the first step toward a protocol that will be useful for the study of the role of genes of interest and for practical applications, such as the improvement of coconut micropropagation via somatic embryogenesis.

A nonlinear mathematical model, on the basis of the overlap of the electrical double layers of charged particles, was developed to explain the oscillatory behavior of the pore size when the time of thermal treatment was varied. The model deduced fits correctly to the experimental results and describes the oscillatory behavior of the pore size.
