The ant colony algorithm is used to perform customer segmentation. To do this, the shortest path approach was chosen. Besides, clustering is done by the Euclidean distance formula in the ant colony algorithm. The customer segmentation attributes are mostly related to the satisfaction factors, but some of them were eliminated by using ranker. These results are mostly related to the customer’s income, tenure, equip call card and reside. These attributes are the most important satisfaction factors not to lose customers as expected. There are many reasons in changing GSM operator for subscribers, and it is very important for companies to predict if subscriber will change GSM operator or not. For this reason, companies that give GSM services have to monitor subscribers’ behaviour and predict one step forward. In this study, changing subscribers’ GSM operator will be predicted by using data mining techniques.

Malaysia is amongst one of the first countries in the world to use biometrics as a standard in it... more Malaysia is amongst one of the first countries in the world to use biometrics as a standard in its identification cards and automatic teller machines (ATMs). Currently, there is a lack of studies in Malaysia and around the world that studied the user acceptance of ATM biometric authentication technology. All previous studies tended to overlook the user acceptance of ATM biometrics authentication which is an increasingly important mechanism to verify user identity in banking industry. Therefore, this study is carried out to examine the key factors of user acceptance of ATM biometric authentication technology in Malaysian banks. The target population of this study was customers of commercial banks in the central region of Malaysia. The participants were randomly selected. The questionnaire was distributed to 200 bank customers who have at least 1-year experience in using ATM biometric authentication. The items in the questionnaire were derived from the extensive survey of relevant literature and oral interview. The findings show that both the performance expectancy and social influence have significant effects on user adoption of ATM biometric authentication.

To achieve the objectives of this study, we used the analytical descriptive approach to study the theoretical and practical studies in the subject with an extrapolation of the main results and presentation of them in order to increase the quality of the financial reports. The study found that there is a correlation between IT governance and the COBIT framework in its four dimensions on the quality of financial reporting. It has been shown that there is a positive relationship between these dimensions and the quality characteristics of financial reporting.

Hence, it is necessary to adopt new technologies so as to enhance their business performance, improve competitiveness and reduce cost. However, service SMBs are facing several issues in India which are ultimately due to lack of sufficient resources. For this purpose, an online survey was conducted to evaluate the level of economic benefit is obtained by Indian service SMBs.

Prediction of sea and weather environment variables like wind speed, wind direction, wave height,... more Prediction of sea and weather environment variables like wind speed, wind direction, wave height, wave direction, sea surface current direction and magnitude has always been an important subject in marine engineering as they effect on ship speed and effect the time of arrival to destination point as well. In this study, we propose a neural network that can predict the latitudinal and longitudinal components of sea surface currents in the Aegean Sea. The system can predict the sea surface currents components using the wind components which are gathered from the INMARSAT weather report system. The neural network is trained using the historical data which is gathered from UCAR historical weather database and historical surface current data which is gathered from IFREMER database.

Mobile robots operating in a dynamic environment may encounter moving obstacles. The distance from the obstacles to the robot is provided as a control input. The change of distance is provided as the secondary input. The output speed value is expressed as 'stop', 'very slow', 'slow', 'medium' and 'fast', respectively. Each of these expressions has an exact numerical value, but it depends on the inputs and the rule base, and therefore the numerical values belong to the variable ratios. The input parameters do not have an exact value and they are assigned to different numerical ranges at different ratios. The input membership functions defined in this study are defined as triangular functions. The defuzzification process of the output parameter is performed by the weighted average method.

Today, companies are able to continue their existence in the modern world's competitive environment by adjusting their advertising and marketing strategies and calculating their budgets to social media analyses they get. In addition, companies depend on those analyses in order to determine their positions in the market and create their action plans. In this study, instant messages sent on social media and demographic information were used in the data analysis in order to determine whether those messages included positive or negative attitudes.

This paper presents a Microsoft Internet of Things Platform for a very large scale smart power metre reading, used for training operative staff of the Distribution Network Operator, but also to help end-users to control their electrical energy consumption. The strength of this platform for the Distribution Network Operator is that the read data can be used for energy forecast, which is very useful for the future energy consumption optimisation. The platform can be reached via the Internet using a user name and password. A comparison between the results provided by classical teaching/learning methods and the ones achieved using this platform is presented.

Data envelopment analysis (DEA) has been widely used in many fields. Recently, it has been adopte... more Data envelopment analysis (DEA) has been widely used in many fields. Recently, it has been adopted by the healthcare sector to improve efficiency and performance of the healthcare organisations, and thus, reducing overall costs and increasing productivity. In this paper, we demonstrate the results of applying the DEA model in Jordanian hospitals. The dataset consists of 28 hospitals and is classified into two groups: efficient and non-efficient hospitals. We applied different association classification data mining techniques (JCBA, WeightedClassifier and J48) to generate strong rules using the Waikato Environment for Knowledge Analysis. We also applied the open source DEA software and MaxDEA software to manipulate the DEA model. The results showed that JCBA has the highest accuracy. However, WeightedClassifier method achieves the highest number of generated rules, while the JCBA method has the minimum number of generated rules. The results have several implications for practice in the healthcare sector and decision makers.

Lifelong learning models have an automatic learning mechanism. In the learning process, the model gets more knowledgeable with experience as it learns from the past in the form of rules. It carries rules to the future and utilises them when a similar scenario arise in the future. The existing lifelong learning topic models heavily rely on statistical measures to learn rules that lead to two limitations. In this research work, we introduce complex networks analysis for learning rules. The rules are obtained through hierarchical clustering of the complex network that has different number of words within a rule and has directed orientation. The proposed approach improves the utilisation of rules for improved quality of topics at higher performance with unidirectional rules on the standard lifelong learning dataset.

The different side of our work is that it is on the ports of Greece and Turkey on the Aegean Sea and that the nodes are prepared on the actual map based on the actual coordinates and depths. Our study differs from previous studies in that it focuses on Greek and Turkish ports on the Aegean Sea and the nodes are prepared on an actual map based on actual coordinates and depths. The study is part of an intelligent system capable of actually planning the route of a sailing vessel. The Breadth-First, Bellman-Ford and Dijkstra's algorithms were used to calculate the shortest routes between ports and the results were evaluated in terms of the route, distance and calculation time used.

Transformers are valuable equipment which makes a major contribution to the supply security of a power system. Consequently, it is of great importance to disequilibria the three phases courant of power transformers. So, vector diagram analysis is a useful tool for reliable detection of incipient mechanical fault in a transformer, by finding winding or core defects. The authors propose this article, the coupled circuits method, because, it gives most possible exhaustive modelling of transformers. Measurement courant homopolaire in order to improve and simplify the response for a faulty transformer. This study can be used as a base data for the other transformers of the same categories intended for distribution grid.

This method is an attempt to first divide the samples in the region by fuzzy method with the probability of being in each cluster and then with the results of this Practice, the artificial neural network is trained, and can analyse the new data entered in the region with the probable percentage of the clusters. More clearly, after a full mineral exploration, the sample can be attributed to a certain probable percentage of anomalies. To test the accuracy of this clustering in the form of the theory alone, a case study was conducted on the results of the analysis of regional alluvial sediments data in Birjand, Iran, which resulted in satisfactory results. This software is written in MATLAB and its first application in mining engineering. This algorithm can be used in other similar applications in various sciences.

The purpose of this work is to study the behaviour of a system where static compensator (STATCOM) is located at the midpoint of a long transmission line functioning in disturbed modes with various levels of load caused by tripping and then, reclosing of the incoming station breaker. The studied model and starting from the analysis of various alternatives will lead to the checking of the aptitude of the STATCOM to maintain the voltage plan and to improve the power flow in electro-energetic system which is the east region of Algerian 400 kV transmission network. The steady state performance of STATCOM's controller is analysed through computer simulations with MATLAB/Simulink program. The simulation results have demonstrated that STATCOM can be effectively applied in power transmission systems to solve the problems of poor dynamic performance and voltage regulation.
