The Philippines is one of the countries with the highest risk of disasters due to its location on... more The Philippines is one of the countries with the highest risk of disasters due to its location on the Pacific Ring of Fire and on the Typhoon Belt. Hence, this study aimed to evaluate the disaster preparedness of municipalities in the 3rd District of Tarlac. The researchers chose municipalities in the 3rd District of Tarlac to identify the disaster preparedness of municipalities in a landlocked area. This study used a descriptive quantitative design and utilized frequency, percentage, and average to analyze the data. This study adapted the LGU Disaster Preparedness Journal: Checklist of Early Preparedness Actions for Mayors in assessing the disaster preparedness of four municipalities in the 3rd District of Tarlac namely: Bamban, Capas, Concepcion, and La Paz. The Checklist of Early Preparedness Actions for Mayors consists of two domains: 1.) Create and Institutionalize Structures, Systems, Policies, and Plans, and; 2.) Mobilize Resources. The first domain was grouped into three parts: Structures and Systems; Policies and Plans, and; Establishing Linkage Support. Meanwhile, the second domain was grouped into two parts: Acquiring Resources for Security, Law, and Order, Search and Rescue, Management of the Dead and Missing, and Clearing; and Acquiring Resources for Communication and Public Awareness. Based on the overall results of the four municipalities, Capas is very prepared; meanwhile, Bamban, Concepcion, and La Paz are all partially prepared. Furthermore, the 3rd District of Tarlac was described as partially prepared.
