The management team strives to anticipate all possible threats and define protective measures. In the event of the COVID-19 pandemic enterprises were not prepared for such threats. Therefore, an important role is played by the health and safety inspector who should be involved in the company management process. The impact of the safety aspects of the work environment on the quality and efficiency of work is even more important in the event of an unexpected hazard that is difficult to completely eliminate. The purpose of the paper is to present the causes and effects of the COVID-19 biohazard according to the Ishikawa diagram on the example of a selected process in an enterprise.

This is a barite deposit in Spiš, which shows an ever-lower volume of exploited raw material year-on-year. However, this area is rich in several confirmed barite veins, which represent potential strategic raw materials. The presented article analyzes in detail and describes the Jaklovce I. deposit, which is located in the Gelnica district in northeast of Slovakia. Despite the fact that Slovakia, as well as most EU countries, is dependent on imports of raw materials, the new deposits represent new potential. Determination of the economic value of these deposits creates a promising potential for the investor, but also, secondarily, a potential for the socioeconomic development of regions, as well as for the state. Methods. Based on the evaluation of dynamic economic variables, the article predicts the benefits which mining in this deposit would bring, which are also supported by SWOT analysis of barite exploitation. Findings. According to the methods used during the financial evaluation of the single mined deposit of CRM in Slovakia, which was developed because of CRM criticality in EU, we showed, based on § 14 of the Mining Act no. 44/1988 Coll. the necessity of CRM mining from the view of regions, the state and investors. The present article summarizes impacts of exploiting the barite from Jaklovce I. deposit for the investor, as well as for the state, which is also underlined through SWOT analysis. Originality. This study attempts to point out that mining critical raw materials is economically suitable not only for the state, but also for investors. SWOT analysis also pinpoints most threats, opportunities and some forecasts which should be taken into account while designing the investment project. Practical implications. Investment project in mining area is one of the most critical and challenging decisions that experts have to make mainly based on geological, economical and geotechnical properties of the deposit, which are very specific. The same is true for the investment project which represents huge investments and rate of risk.

In practice, this means that the customer wants to have the goods at the location at a specific time and provided in adequate quality and price, which is determined by the market supply and demand. One of the options to increase business efficiency and competitiveness in general is to reduce production costs or the total cost. Logistics costs (in literature also referred to as "total costs") represent a very high proportion of these costs. They are part of the total cost, which greatly affect management of the company. The paper outlines the possibility of how these costs can be reduced, based on an analysis and using rationalization approach to the current state of the organization and its management, without requiring significant costs of implementing certain measures.

Design/methodology/approach: the TOPSIS method was applied to rank countries in terms of social phenomena-the list comprised countries, which in 2004 accessed the EU. The paper focused on social phenomena, i.e. health, the labour market, housing, demography and education. Findings: It refers to the basic assumptions and the importance of integration in the international context as well as the related theories. Moreover, it presents the relationship between integration and the level of development in countries in terms of the social aspects. At the same time it discusses the process of social changes which have taken place in the Central and Eastern European countries (CEESs) since their accession to the European Union. Research limitations/implications: The text discusses problems related to the European integration and social development in the EU countries. Practical implications: The manuscript concerns social development in the EU-10 countries and European integration. It may be of interest for the broadly understood governmental sector. Social consequences: Conducted studies will constitute the basis for the development of European and national development strategies in terms of improvement of welfare for the populations, while also indicating the direction of changes and ensuring comparability of the results concerning transformations in the countries, which accessed the EU in 2004. Originality/value: The originality of the study will stem from the application of the TOPSIS method, required to classify the countries and to determine the standard of their development in terms of social phenomena.

Design/methodology/approach: KPIs and instruments of quality management (Pareto-Lorenz diagram, Ishikawa diagram and 5Why?) were used. The survey covered products manufactured in the third and fourth quarters of 2019. Findings: It was found that the most serious non-compliance was the presence of an uneven rim surface (Pareto-Lorenz diagram). Potential causes were inadequate gluing of the door leaf layers and the use of worn flange processing equipment (Ishikawa diagram). On the other hand, the root cause of the quality problem turned out to be the lack of supervision and proper training of employees (5Why method). Research limitations/implications: The presented research process has no limitations-it can be used in manufacturing companies. Further research will concern the application of the methodology to the analysis of other products offered by the company. Practical implications: the research contributed to the identification of the causes of the lowered quality level, which will allow to implement appropriate remedial measures. As part of the improvement measures, training must be carried out at the workplace and the availability of work instructions must be ensured. Originality/value: so far no extended quality analyses have been conducted in the companyno KPIs have been used in combination with extended analyses carried out with the use of quality management tools. The presented methodology is useful for the company where the analysis was made and for the manufacturing companies that want to effectively improve their production processes.

Design/methodology/approach: The analysed ski lift, located in Southern Poland, should undergo daily checks on the condition of its equipment to ensure trouble-free operation. Current non-standardised operations may increase the risk of error. The proposed document, the work standardisation card, makes it possible to supervise the control and minimise the possibility of failure. Findings: The introduction of the work standardisation card allows to increase the efficiency of the work and the analysis of the results obtained allowed to classify the most time-consuming activities. Research limitations/implications: In order to reduce costs, as a result of failures, and to increase quality and customer satisfaction, it is proposed to introduce documents as part of the working standard. Practical implications: Future research should focus on opportunities to further improve machine condition monitoring. The presented methodology can be applied to other activities that occur during ski lift operation, such as breakdowns. Originality/value: The work is a useful resource for companies in the tourism and transport industry and the transport sector, due to the universality of the standards used.

The rapid development of technologies offers ever greater opportunities to explore behavior, perception and emotional engagement of customers. The development of communication technologies coupled with the use of direct advertising targeting offers the possibility of adapting marketing communication to both the target segment and the media that communicates to consumers. New opportunities for rapid scattering, targeting and placement of advertising communications and the use of media, on the other hand, meet the overwhelming and unattractive attitudes of consumers. People go through the day in different environments where there is no segmentation of communication, exhibiting nationwide, world-wide media where communication is targeted at the broadest masses. In this way, general communication makes people less interested or even worse, resisting any form of communication. As advertising grows overwhelmed by consumer awareness, the potential for targeting and the right placement of advertising communications is losing efficiency. Investing money in communication campaigns is a bet rather than reasonably spent money. It is necessary to realize how the traditional concept of marketing communication changes.

As part of the paper, we primarily deal with below-limit and above-limit contracts in public procurement in the Slovak Republic. As part of the research, we focused on the period from 2016 to 2019. In this comparison of data, we try to demonstrate the strength of public procurement in the public sector as well as the volume of financial flows spent on procurement. In the monitored period of 2016-2019, there were 12,546 above-limit and below-limit procedures, including civil contracts and contracts in the field of defense and security, within which 1,7376 contracts were concluded. Their importance has increased in the recent period, especially in the era associated with a lack of financial resources in the economic and social spheres. A correct determination of the mechanisms ensuring the implementation of transparent competition can improve the competitive environment. Such aspects prompt this study, which is aimed at examining the selected public procurement in the different sectors and their impact on the final cost of the public procurement contract. With the issue of our research, the acquisition of relevant documents and verified procedures is very problematic, as we do not have a significant number of professional and scientific publications related to these topics in the Slovak Republic. Over the last decade, there has been a growing demand for an investigation of the efficiency of public procurement processes. In the research studies, analyses focusing on methodological aspects, efficiency assessment models, economic and transaction costs, and other economic parameters concerning public procurement have begun to appear gradually. The results of this analysis are beneficial for national policymakers as well as national and international benchmarking.
