This study rather than focus on food security examines the potential in utilizing Post-Harvest Wa... more This study rather than focus on food security examines the potential in utilizing Post-Harvest Waste (P-HW) materials and their benefits to the immediate rural communities where lignocellulose waste are found in abundance. It was observed that researchers have proposed a lot of unique approaches to managing solid waste generation; with emphasis on perfect waste collection and disposal, but these approaches are very expensive considering the tight budgeting expenses Nigeria is faced with. This study shows that some rural communities experience huge post-harvest organic wastes from their farms and the cost of these losses has been estimated, which then forms a good spot to start the implementation process for this initiative. The research highlights the overview benefits of adopting microbial and pyrolysis approach in converting the lignocellulosic aspect of these waste to economically viable products that will have a direct positive impact on the immediate community. This study proposed a modified fast pyrolysis approach in the conversion process to reduce the production of pyrolytic gas and optimize the production of biochar and pyroligneous acid. Adopting these approaches will reduce the amount of carbon emitted into the atmosphere when burning these waste and produce bio-products instead of synthesized chemical products that have health implications.

Fifteen years primary (aerosol optical depth) dataset was obtained from the Multi-angle Imaging Spectro-Radiometer (MISR). The secondary datasets that was generated from the primary dataset is a new concept to air quality monitoring i.e. aerosol loading. The statistical analysis of the dataset was also presented. The standard deviation of the AOD is found to be less than 0.15 and maximum AOD value of 1.15. The average aerosol loading over Buchanan is 0.87. Statistically, the difference between the first and third quartile of the dataset indicates that there is considerable dispersion of aerosol content into the atmosphere in the months of June and December. The dataset gives a preliminary insight on how aerosol loading can be used extensively for preliminary ground exploration in Buchanan.
Modern-day climate and environmental factors are largely responsible for the different geometric ... more Modern-day climate and environmental factors are largely responsible for the different geometric characteristics exhibited by formation zones/petroleum reservoirs which makes them highly selective with respect to their adaptation to drilling fluids. However, recent advances in drilling technology, such as, the development of an appropriate drilling fluid automation system carried out in this study, have shown prospects for tremendous improvements in well performance with a subsequent reduction in well dormancy/shutdown. Based on the mud density calculations from the simulation and field measurements, it is evident that the novel drilling fluid selector system has a characteristic algorithm that is suitable for predicting the performance of drilling fluids within limits of accuracy as high as 95-99% for wellbore sizes/diameters and depth, in the range of 8-16" and 0-15,760 ft which is a good step towards attaining a fully automated drilling operation.

Premature failures of the insulation materials for these gas transmission pipelines have had significant operational impacts. The ability to timely detect these failures within these systems has been a very difficult task for the oil and gas industries. Thus, periodic survey of the subsea transmission systems is the present practice. In addition, a new technology called optic-fibre Distributed Temperature Sensing system (DTS) is now being used to monitor subsea transmission pipeline temperatures; but this technology is rather very expensive. Methodology: This study includes the Fabrication of Isotherm Adsorption Equipment, Methane Sorpti... more Methodology: This study includes the Fabrication of Isotherm Adsorption Equipment, Methane Sorption test, Proximate Analysis, Ultimate Analysis, and Estimation of Methane Content. Results: The maximum moisture and fixed carbon was found in Sample D with moisture content of 3.35%, fixed carbon content of 60.41%; and it also has the minimum ash content of 5.61%. The maximum volatile matter was found in Sample B with volatile matter of 33.57%. The estimated methane content from the Meissner's method differs from those obtained from the adsorption Isotherm equipment by 22%. Conclusion: The adsorption isotherm models obtained, showed that the total organic carbon content is not a significant factor in the adsorptive and dispersive behaviors exhibited by the shale Original Research Article
