This work uses the possibility of improving access control door security by replacing a door key with a dependable electromagnetic door lock system for only authorized persons utilizing RFID and a mobile call intruder warning system. Methodology: The system is controlled by an ATMEGA328 microcontroller, which instructs the RFID reader to check and verify the users' unique identity tags before unlocking the electromagnetic lock to grant access or alert the administrators through the GSM module if an invalid tag is used. The microcontroller which also controls a liquid crystal display was programmed using Arduino C language; the data of identification tags were stored in its database. The RFIDbased access control with electromagnetic lock and intruder alert consist...

It is basically used to efficiently transport liquid and gaseous commodities over long distances at a low cost. Water, regular gases, petroleum products, and liquid hydrocarbons are examples of transportable pipeline commodities. The need for an efficient and reliable pipeline system is increasing by the day as a result of the detrimental effect of unreliable ones on society. Failure can result in environmental pollution and explosions, which can destroy lives, properties, and the ecosystem; moreover, the cost of restoring the ecosystem to its origin or natural form may be very costly or nearly impossible. To this effect, there is a need for pipeline monitoring systems (PMS) that will manage the pipeline network against such detrimental effects. This paper review some of the existing PMS highlights their sensing techniques, merits, de-merits, and areas of possible applications either onshore (...

Example of such sources are bioenergy, hydropower, geothermal, wind and solar energy sources. The alarming rate of global energy demand and consumption necessitates an immediate solution for energy conservation and maximum efficiency of new technological gadgets now being built. As a gadget, a solar water heater transforms dc electricity into heat energy, which is then transferred to the water in which it is immersed. The size of the heater is determined by its design, capacity, and intended purpose; it might be for household or industrial use. As an alternative to conventional electric water heaters, this effort focuses on the design and development of a solar-powered smart water heater. In tests using a variety of settings, the solar-powered smart heater that was constructed performed admirably. The components used include a PIC16F876A microcontroller, a 12 V/300 W monocrystalline PV, a 12 V/ 40 A charg...

Engagement of local security operatives in stopping this menace of the herders have proved abortive. Hence, this work proposes a farmland surveillance-alert system using unmanned aerial vehicles for the detection of cattle presence on farmlands as a solution to curbing the problem of farm invasion and destruction. The technique modifies CNN-YOLOV2 architecture, the outcome was accessed with DJI phantom 4 captured 656 images for the detection of cattle invasion. The system on detecting cattle presence above a threshold level sends SMS to farmer’s designated number. The system achieved an average confidence score of 0.92 for the test dataset and 0.72 on real-life data. Hence, it can be employed to mitigate incessant farm invasion and destruction problem and in other s...

Image noise, complicated object motion and forms, and video real-time processing are some of the challenges faced by existing methods. Hence, they are computationally complex and susceptible to noise. This work utilized Canny Edge and Optical Flow (CE-OF) techniques for identifying and tracking moving objects in video files. Methodology: Video sequence datasets in Avi and Mp4 format from MathWorks and YouTube were used to evaluate the developed CE-OF technique. The video clip's frames were sampled several times and the frame rate display was calculated. The original images were converted to grayscale, preprocessed, and CE-OP was applied to identify and track the moving object. The results of the CE-OF and optical flow techniques in terms of accuracy, precision, false acceptance rate, false rejection rate, and processing time were obtained and compared. The performance of the developed technique was evaluated using accuracy, precision, false acceptance rate (FAR), false rejection rate (FRR) and processing time. The results obtained were 94.12%, 92.86%, 25.00%, 25.00%, and 19.51s for Mp4; and 93.33%, 90.91%, 20.00%, 20.00%, and 44.11s for Avi video 1 format, respectively. Conclusion: The developed CE-OF is a better competition in terms of accuracy and time Original Research Article

As the thermal environment becomes more stressful, the animal body perceives a risk to life and stops prioritizing production for survival. The health of the chicks can be ensured by using an efficient temperature and humidity control system that conserves energy by only using the heater or fan when absolutely necessary. Using a computer simulation, the work designs and simulates an automated poultry house weather control system with week selection switches that let the user select the age of the chicks. The selection informs the microprocessor of the control instruction to be used automatically. Proteus® is used to simulate the system, and it performs according to the design specifications, with precise temperature and humidity values used for control and results displayed on a 16*2 LCD.

Accurate segmentation of brain magnetic resonance images (MRI) is a critical phase in measuring the irregularities in brain structure. In recent years, deep learning has gained popularity for its efficiency in brain image segmentation. In particular, Unet architecture is being deployed in several biomedical fields for segmentation. It has contributed immensely to solving clinical problems, which includes accurate segmentation of desired feature, efficient processing, and analysis of biomedical images, therefore enhancing an improved accuracy in biomedical images diagnosis and prognosis. In this research, JesloNet, a Unet architecture was developed for the automatic segmentation of abnormal tissues, brain tumours in MR scan images. MR scanned brain images were obtained from The Cancer Image Archives, the images were preprocessed and split in train and test set in the ratio 80:20. The experiment results showed that the Unet model, JeisloNet achieved good performance with the following results in Dice Coefficient Index (DSC) 0.9931, Mean IOU 0.9321, Global Accuracy 0.9928, and Error rate 0.0072. The result was also compared with other methods in the literature an JeisloNet performed better, hence, it can be adopted for other medical image segmentation.

Th... more Previous energy management systems are not fully automated and do not consider battery health. This work attempts to tackle these problems with the capacity to monitor battery status in real-time and prevent over-discharging, which eventually result in prolonged battery life. The solution provided in this work named Smart Energy Management System for Homes (SEMS-H) is expected to help in optimum use of solar energy in homes. It consists of sensor networks, the microcontroller, battery bank, load control/switching and the regulated power supply units. Moreover, it incorporates the ability to supply energy to loads and connected devices in order of preference with some other intelligent features. The project's performance fulfilled the design specifications with regards to the period of the day, the state of the battery-charging, load lines, battery level and range, and internet connectivity state at any moment in time.
