Digitalização de estruturas biológicas no design de material instrucional tátil para pessoas com ... more Digitalização de estruturas biológicas no design de material instrucional tátil para pessoas com deficiência visual Resumo Design Assistivo se caracteriza pelo processo de desenvolvimento de Tecnologias Assistivas, a qual promove funcionalidade e a inclusão de pessoas com deficiência. O desenvolvimento de material instrucional para o ensino de pessoas com deficiência visual pode ocorrer por meio das novas tecnologias de digitalização e impressão 3D. O presente estudo objetivou desenvolver material instrucional tátil, a partir de estruturas biológicas de serpentes. Foram realizadas digitalizações de crânios, cabeças, escamas e cauda de diferentes espécies. Os arquivos digitais foram editados em softwares específicos. Foram descritos procedimentos de verificação e análise dos fatores e parâmetros que implicam em uma melhor definição e acurácia dos modelos virtuais, controlando a relação dimensional com a percepção de detalhes, como escamas e formato anatômico. Os protótipos foram obtidos por tecnologia de impressão 3D, permitindo analisar fatores e parâmetros que implicaram em uma melhor precisão dos detalhes; além da possibilidade de validação da interação de uso (eficácia e eficiência) em condições educacionais.

Recursos diversos foram mobilizados para produzir alternativas. Este artigo relata o desenvolvimento de duas alternativas de FS (manufatura manual e aditiva), em ação transdisciplinar de três equipes (Saúde, Produção e Design), baseada no Design Centrado no Usuário. O desvio da coluna vertebral do tipo escoliose é uma das principais seqüelas da paralisia cerebra... more O desvio da coluna vertebral do tipo escoliose é uma das principais seqüelas da paralisia cerebral (PC). A intervenção projetual com aplicação dos princípios do design ergonômico, de modo a avaliar e validar técnicas clinicas e fisioterapeuticas na utilização de assentos especiais para reabilitação, foi o objetivo proposto neste estudo, particularmente através de um assento modular com regulagem vertical, buscando prevenir e minimizar os problemas decorrentes deste acometimento. Métodos: Abordagens éticas foram consideradas para os três indivíduos portadores de PC e escoliose, sendo que apenas um deles utilizou o assento adaptado com regulagem vertical, enquanto os demais fizeram uso de assentos comuns. Os procedimentos envolveram avaliações pré e pós-uso do produto, num intervalo de 90 dias considerando análises psicológicas de atividades diárias (AVDs), neurológica, ortopédica, radiológica, além do método da Biofotogrametria Computadorizada. Resultados: Foram encontrados resultados positivos, principalmente no que diz respeito ao paciente que fez uso do assento adaptado, evidenciando melhorias nos vários aspectos avaliados. A análise demonstrada pela Biofotogrametria Computadorizada foi significativa para as condições posturais da coluna vertebral neste paciente (p d" 0,01). Discussão e Conclusão: A eficiência do assento modular com regulagem vertical foi comprovada, sugerindo uma nova alternativa para melhor qualidade de vida desses pacientes, e contribuindo expressivamente para as metodologias do design ergonômico.

A sample of 13 institutionalized aged participants were interviewed and responded to the Quebec User Evaluation of Satisfaction with Assistive Technology (QUEST 2.0) questionnaire, with eight questions that address their level of satisfaction with different aspects of the device. In general, the users reported to be satisfied with their device, with the highest levels of satisfaction with durability and easiness of use. The lowest scores were associated with device weight, ease of adjusting and device stability and safety. The users' indicated the device safety, easiness of use and comfort as the most relevant aspects of the device. Elderly users' satisfaction with their mobility devices is likely to correlate with users' device needs and expectations.

Diante dos desafios que a economia globalizada enfrenta, surge a necessidade de uma reflexão sobr... more Diante dos desafios que a economia globalizada enfrenta, surge a necessidade de uma reflexão sobre os indicadores de competitividade e design, especialmente no caso de empresas e organizações, cujo foco é a exportação. O presente estudo objetivou analisar métricas nacionais e internacionais de design e competividade, e a sua relação com a exportação. Os procedimentos basearam-se em revisão bibliográfica assistemática. Como resultado, apresentam-se indicadores norteadores para que as empresas que almejam exportar amparadas no design, tornem-se mais competitivas. Tais indicadores também contribuem no processo decisório das empresas e dos atores que desenvolvem políticas públicas de incentivo às exportações, contribuindo com o desenvolvimento de uma cultura proativa de inserção do design. Faced with the challenges that the globalized economy faces, there is a need to reflect on the indicators of competitiveness and design, especially in the case of companies and organizations, whose focus is export. The present study aimed to analyze national and international metrics of design and competitiveness, and their relationship with exports. The procedures were based on an unsystematic literature review. As a result, guiding indicators are presented so that companies that aim to export based on design, become more competitive. Such indicators also contribute to the decision-making process of companies and actors that develop public policies to encourage exports, contributing to the development of a proactive culture of design insertion.

People with Parkinson’s disease (PD) manipulate clothing as part of their daily life. To understa... more People with Parkinson’s disease (PD) manipulate clothing as part of their daily life. To understand how deteriorating motor skills affect the performance of dressing/undressing activities, this study investigated performance in handling clothing fastening. Participants were distributed into two groups: older adults with PD and neurologically matched healthy individuals (control group). Coordination and usability were evaluated. The PD group demonstrated worse performance than the control group in usability for types of buttons, and this was affected more intensely by small compared with large fasteners. This study demonstrated the need for increased awareness by clothing companies to develop products that can promote independence.

People with Parkinson’s disease may have difficulties and an inability to dress. As a result, they may need assistance from caregivers and professionals to perform the activity. This article investigated how assisting care can help to promote independence in dress/undress activity for people with Parkinson’s disease in Portugal. The results indicated that the patient’s functional symptoms, the care place, the type of assistance they receive as a stimulus to independence, and the access of products in this system influenced the independence in dress/undress activity. The responsibility and opportunity to discuss non-stigmatizing clothing, that offer viable alternatives to promoting well-being, is important for the discussion about inclusive clothing. This study therefore set out to investigate the influences of wheelchair design on the performance in a wheelchair agility test. Ten participants performed an agility test involving operating three manual wheelchairs with different designs as fast as possible. The wheelchair designs (independent variable) included a lightweight rigid frame, foldable frame and hospital model. The wheelchairs order was randomized for the agility tests. The time to complete an agility test (dependent variable) was measured with a chronometer. The results show that the use of the rigid frame wheelchair yielded the fastest performance during the agility tests, while the hospital model resulted in longer task-completion times. The findings support the view that active users should be provided with lightweight wheelchairs, as heavy hospital wheelchairs limit mobility

Um de seus principais preceitos é utilizar recursos para avaliar as alternativas de artefato desenvolvidas. O presente estudo objetivou relatar o desenvolvimento de um espremedor de frutas cítricas manual considerando a aplicação dos métodos do design ergonômico e os aspectos de usabilidade. Inicialmente, avaliaram-se três diferentes produtos de mercado por meio do protocolo de diferencial semântico. O desenvolvimento do projeto de produto contou com brainstorming, sketches, escaneamento em três dimensões (3D), modelagem digital e prototipagem rápida (impressão 3D). O protótipo foi avaliado com o mesmo protocolo de diferencial semântico em condições controladas (laboratório), com oito participantes. In this research, the objective was to identify the emotional perception that everyday products c... more In this research, the objective was to identify the emotional perception that everyday products can bring to their users. Disposable razors were chosen for they are present in everyday life of most people and have a good level of interaction with the user. The study included 22 adult men and users of disposable razors were used 10 products with different characteristics. Subjects rated the product through a Semantic Differential scale, which was structure with 17 pairs of bipolar adjectives and analyzed by Factor Analysis. The results showed that the positive and negative factors were concentrated predominantly in two products and structural elements [the number of blades, for example] as well as product design have influence on individual preference.
