This study is based on semi-structured and in-depth interviews with a convenience sample of 22 participants. Qualitative analysis and discussion groups were conducted in the participant's homes over 18 months. Thematic analysis resulted in four overarching categories that illustrated how the experience of being a woman was challenged and restructured from the participants' personal experiences. The participants'' coping strategies were primarily reflected in their spirituality, optimism, an embrace of healthy lifestyles, and pink ribbon activism.

Still, many people seek romantic partners and marry for many reasons. Research points to the beneficial effects of marital and romantic relationships. What factors make a good and successful marital and romantic relationship and why marriages and relationships fall apart remains to be answered. Since the divorce rates in Bosnia and Herzegovina increase, the purpose of this study was to explore factors in good and successful marriages and reasons for divorce. This is a qualitative study in which a survey with open-ended questions was used to explore participants' responses. With the help of convenience sampling technique, 366 participants, N= 167 married and N=199 divorced with a mean age M= 43±11 and M= 41±10 respectively were recruited. A content analysis of participants' responses shows that both a good and successful marriage and reasons for divorce are mostly related to relational interpersonal and intrapersonal factors while external, social factors play a less important role. Married and divorced participants named understanding, love, respect, trust, tolerance, communication skills, agreement and compromise as the top qualities for a successful marriage. As the leading reasons for divorce, divorced participants listed adultery or affairs and other women, alcoholism, violence and aggression, arguments and conflict, and misunderstanding.

This leaves the room to non governmental organizations (NGO) and private mental health care professionals in providing psycho-social services to vulnerable populations. Islamic Relief World Wide (IRWW), United Kingdom (UK) based humanitarian organisation, whose personal working within Orphans department, took part in this mission to contribute B-H citizens wellbeing. IRWW in B-H, since 2013 successfully provided psycho-social and EMDR psychotherapy services and help throughout its projects primarily designed for orphans, widows and socially endangered population. All EMDR therapies were delivered from the first author of this presentation. AIM Our aim is to present socio demographic characteristics of clients seeking psychologica...

EGFR is also amplified or mutated in a variety of cancers including in nearly 60% of cases of the highly lethal brain cancer glioblastoma (GBM). EGFR amplification and mutation reprogram cellular metabolism and broadly alter gene transcription to drive tumor formation and progression, rendering EGFR as a compelling drug target. To date, brain tumor patients have yet to benefit from anti-EGFR therapy due in part to an inability to achieve sufficient intratumoral drug levels in the brain, cultivating adaptive mechanisms of resistance. Here, we review an alternative set of strategies for targeting EGFR amplified GBMs, based on identifying and targeting tumor co-dependencies shaped both by aberrant EGFR signaling and the brain's unique biochemical environment. These approaches may include highly brain-penetrant drugs from non-cancer pipelines, expanding the pharmacopeia and providing promising new treatments. We review the molecular underpinnings of EGFR-activated co-dependencies in the brain and the promising new treatments based on this strategy.

To be able to do so, professionals require to be, not only educated but actually properly trained and supervised in specially, among various skills, psychotherapy orientation. Unlike developed countries, psychotherapy services and professional career in psychotherapy in Bosnia and Herzegovina (B&H) is relatively new primarily due to the recent historical developments and events in B&H. AIM The purpose of the present study is to show the role of International University of Sarajevo (IUS) as a local private educational institution in educating and trainin...

Pathological gambling is considered by experts to be an instinct control disorder, i.e. the inability to refrain from an instinct that at the same time causes pleasure to a person, but is also dangerous for them and the people around them as it seriously disrupts not only the physical, emotional, mental and material state of the individual, but affects their families and friends also. In order to examine the most common forms of gambling and betting as well as socio-demographic aspects and their characteristics among Bosniaks in BiH, in the period April-May 2019, on a sample of N = 1520 respondents, a survey was conducted in 62 municipalities in BiH. Respondents ranged from 18-77 years old, of whom 568 were women and 927 were men. While defining the sample for the purposes of this research, a two-stage stratification was performe...

The aim of this research was to investigate the presence and level of relationship of burnout dimensions with perceived general self-efficacy in relation to the length of service of nurses. Participants were nurse employees of a Cantonal Hospital "Dr.Irfan Ljubijankić" Bihać (N=102) who work directly with patients. Materials and Methods. Maslach burnout inventory MBI-HSS. was used to test burnout in the workplace. Generel self-efficacy was measured by a short version of the original general self-efficacy scale by Schwarzer et al. Conclusion. Research results indicate low level of burnout in the workplace with a tendency towards moderate. More specifically, moderate emotional exhaustion, low depersonalization and high personal accomplishment. Perecived self efficacy is associated with depersonalisation (r s =-0.26, p<0.05) and personal accopmlishment (r s =0.41, p<0.05), whilst intention to change profession is affected by perceived self efficacy, emotional exhaustion and personal accomplishment.

Many stressful and negative events can interfere with these abilities and thus endanger someone's mental health. Migration is one of them. With its' pre and post phases/stages, migration represents great sources of stress and stressors. Immigrants need good personal and social resource in order to lessen down negative effects of migration on their mental health. The aim of this study is to explore presence of mental health problems in non clinical population of Bosnian immigrants (N=101, F=48, M=53) in Switzerland. It was assumed that migration stress acts negatively on immigrant's mental health. General health questionnaire was used to test this hypothesis. Participants mean score results on total GHQ28 questionnaire were M=51.06, S.D. =14.30, its subscales on depression M=10.12 S.D.=3.75, somatic complaints M=13.04 S.D.=4.5, anxiety/insomnia M=13.34 S.D. 4.8, and social dysfunction M=14.37 S.D.=3.5. This indicates presence of mental health problems among Bosnian immigrants. At the same time, the study shows presence of social support seeking (N=83 subjects listed family and friends) as primary coping strategy used by Bosnian immigrants while dealing with difficulties and problems rather than seeking professional help (N=3 subjects listed professional help seeking). Thus, social support seeking acts positively on mental health of Bosnian immigrants.

Feminist movement simply started as a women's activism which later claimed political identity and finally ended as women's liberation movement. Feminists simply advocate gender equality. Emergence of feminist psychology movement and appearance of significant female figures in psychology is further explained along with their contribution to the theory, personality and specific developmental issues along with its input to the therapy and counseling field. The influence of four feminist philosophical approaches namely, liberal feminism, cultural feminism, radical feminism and social feminism are also shortly discussed alongside with their practical implications. Above and beyond, feminist contribution to the therapy field reflected in offering specific therapy goals are also discussed. Self esteem as a core issue and one of feminist therapy goals is finally discussed and presented through a specific case study illustration. Feminist therapy is important therapy approach with significant therapy goals contribution in relation to women's mental health issues. Consideration of sex, gender, cultural diversity, etiology, diagnosis and treatment is feminist request for successful therapy because fixing woman for functioning in a dysfunctional society seems not enough.

Immigration and its phases represent great sources of stress and stressors. Immigrants need effective coping strategies which can help them maintain their physical as well as mental health. The aim of this study is to explore the persistence of coping strategies in a non clinical population of Bosnian immigrants in Switzerland. Our results showed a statistical significance of the t-test for all the scales (General Health Questionnaire, GHQ 28, Becks Depression Inventory, BDI and Perceived Stress Scale, PSS 14) and subscales of stress, depression, anxiety, somatic complaints, insomnia and social dysfunction. At the same time, the study shows a presence of a primary coping strategy in the form of social support and its use by Bosnian immigrants while dealing with difficulties and problems.
