This study aims to describe the pattern of relationships between several factors supporting inter... more This study aims to describe the pattern of relationships between several factors supporting interest (interest) in science subjects. Students get an Exercise Program to improve scientific literacy. This training program aims to improve students' scientific literacy skills. The training program is carried out after the teachers receive the training program. The study of students' interest in science was revealed by conducting a survey related to several factors supporting interest in science. Several factors in the study of supporting scientific interests include the role of teachers, parental support, school roles, peer support, physics, chemistry and biology materials. Research participants were taken using random sampling technique, totaling 39 students. The developed scientific literacy assistance program seeks to improve the quality of learning outcomes. The success of the scientific literacy training program is related to students' scientific interest. The results showed that the multiple linear regression model provides a descriptive numerical description of the empirical relationship between the value of interest in science and its supporting components. Likewise, interest has a role in learning achievement.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk untuk mengembangkan instrumen tes berbasis berpikir kritis sebagai... more Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk untuk mengembangkan instrumen tes berbasis berpikir kritis sebagai instrumen dalam pembelajaran di SMA, untuk mengetahui tingkat keefektivan yang digunakan untuk instrumen berbasis berpikir kritis, dan mengetahui karakteristik instrumen asesmen soal berbasis berpikir kritis yang dikembangkan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian Research & Development (R & D) dengan menggunakan model 4-D. Hasil validitas butir memiliki nilai r_hitung tertinggi yaitu 0,719 (valid) dan r_hitung terendah yaitu 0,345 (cukup valid), hasil uji relabilitas memiliki nilai 0,696 (reliabilitas sedang), Hasil uji tingkat kesukaran memiliki nilai tertinggi yaitu 0,817 (Mudah) dan nilai terendah yaitu 0,242 (Sukar). Hasil uji daya beda memiliki nilai tertinggi yaitu 0,561 (Cukup) dan nilai terendah yaitu 0,199 (Rendah). Hasil uji regresi memiliki nilai r_hitung tertinggi yaitu 0,804 (Sangat Kuat) dan r_hitung terendah yaitu 0 (Lemah). Dan mengetahui respon siswa terhadap penggunaan Instrumen tes berpikir kritis. Berdasarkan keterangan tersebut, maka kesimpulan dari instrumen tes mendapatkan hasil yang layak digunakan.

The research method used is the ADDIE Research and Development method (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, & Evaluate). The research subjects used students from Medan An-Nizam Private High School T.P 2018/2019. The study produced 20 items of test instruments consisting of multiple choices and essays showing that HOTS thinking skills (Higher Order Thinking Skill) from the study sample amounted to 39 people were 18% of students had creative thinking skills, 23% of students had Creative-Critical thinking skills, 54% of students had skills critical thinking, and 5% of students with superior skills are critical.
The study aims to develop Two-tier Multiple Choice (TTMC) test to measure students' Higher Order ... more The study aims to develop Two-tier Multiple Choice (TTMC) test to measure students' Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) in material Momentum and Impulse to standard qualifications of good test based in validity, reliability, difficulty index, discrimination index and effectiveness distractor. The type of research is developmental research, using the ADDIE model. The data analysis technique used is qualitative and quantitative technique. The results of this study based on qualitative analysis showed that quality of the test questions was very good with a percentage of validity of 91,33%. Quantitative analysis of the quality of the TTMC test is good. Analysis of 27 items in the small group trials showed test obtained 24 items received and 3 items were rejected. The large group test was obtained: (1) 19 valid items (71%), 5 invalid items (21%). (2) The test having enough reliability is 0.587. (3) 3 (13%) easy items, 12 (50%) medium items and 9 (38%) difficult items. (4) Discrimination index of the questions was obtained by 14 (58%) questions in the excellent category, 5 (21%) questions in the good category and 5 (21%) questions in the bad category. (5) 19 (79%) were effective items and 5 (21%) were ineffective items. Items received were 12 (50%) questions, 7 (29%) items revised and 5 (21%) items rejected.

Jenis penelitian yang digunakan yaitu penelitian Research and Development (R&D) menggunakan model pengembangan ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, dan Evaluation). Instrumen Penelitian yang digunakan ialah angket validasi, tes, dan angket tanggapan siswa. Subjek penelitian ini yaitu siswa kelas XI MIPA yang berjumlah 20 peserta didik pada uji skala terbatas dan 64 peserta didik pada uji skala luas. Dari analisis data, diperoleh sebanyak 14 soal valid dengan koefisien reliabilitas sebesar 0,84. Tingkat kesukaran diperoleh sebanyak 6 soal mudah, dan 8 soal yang sedang. Daya pembeda diperoleh sebanyak 5 soal baik sekali, 8 soal baik, dan 1 soal cukup. Diperoleh sebanyak 13 butir soal memiliki efektivitas pengecoh sangat baik, 1 soal baik, serta tanggapan peserta didik terhadap instrumen tes yang dikembangkan sebesar 90,9% yang artinya instrumen yang dikembangkan sangat baik.

This study aims to develop an objective test of high-level knowledge of the subject of Temperatur... more This study aims to develop an objective test of high-level knowledge of the subject of Temperature and Heat in high school that meets good test qualification standards in terms of validity, reliability, level of difficulty, discriminatory power and effectiveness of distractors. This type of research is development research, using the ADDIE research development method with the stages of analysis, design, development, and evaluation. In the analysis stage, the results obtained are minimal variations in the assessment and students are still lacking in obtaining physics questions for high-level knowledge of the temperature and heat material. The material about physics developed includes temperature, heat, expansion, Black's Principle, heat transfer, changes in the state of matter, ideal gases and thermodynamics. In the design phase, 50 items were obtained based on high-level knowledge analysis. The development stage obtained 38 items in the very valid category with a percentage of 92.4% based on content validation by 3 experts, both in terms of material, construct, and language. The results of the implementation and evaluation stages show that of the 50 items developed, 39 items have met the criteria for good test quality, based on the validity, reliability, discriminating power, level of difficulty, and effectiveness of distractors in small group trials and group trials big.
Critical thinking skills is one way to be able to understand the scientific concepts that exist i... more Critical thinking skills is one way to be able to understand the scientific concepts that exist in physics content as a whole in this case represented by motion content. The aim of the research is to find critical thinking skills behind success and failure in understanding the motion concepts of prospective science teachers. The concept of mechanical motion is expressed in verbal, formal, graphical, and numerical representations. The concept of motion is the subject of the problem in the first tier of the test item. The second tier of the test item measures one of the four critical thinking skills that are relevant to the subject matter. The critical thinking skills studied are reasoning effectively, using systems of thinking, making judgments and decisions, and solving problem. The results of the study show coherence between the ability to understand concepts and critical thinking skills expressed by the correlation index. The magnitude of the correlation index shows the level of coherence between understanding the concept and the underlying critical thinking skills. Empirical data shows a high correlation value between verbal representation and reasoning effectively, formal representation with using system thinking, graph representation with making judgments and decision, and numerical representation with the solving problem skills.

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan dengan menggunakan model pengembangan analysis, design, developmen, implementation, evaluate (ADDIE). Prosedur pengembangan produk melalui tahap analisis hingga evaluasi. Tahap analisis dilakukan analisis kebutuhan, analisis kurikulum, analisis strudi literatur dan analisis siswa. Prosedur desain yaitu penentuan indicator yang akan digunakan, penyusunan kisi-kisi. Prosedur selanjutnya tahap pengembangan menyusun instrumen, validasi pakar selanjutnya tahap penerapan uji coba produk pada siswa. Tahap terakhir adalah evaluasi instrumen melalui angket respon guru dan peserta didik terhadap instrumen yang diberikan. Instrumen yang dikembangkan sebanyak 8 soal dari 10 soal dan telah divalidkan oleh validator. Validitas yang diperoleh dari 8 soal adalah 7 soal valid dan 1 soal tidak valid. Selanjutnya nilai reliabilitas yang diperoleh cukup tinggi dengan nilai reliabilitas sebesar 0,70.
A 30-items and a 20-items three-tier multiple choice diagnostic test instrument was developed to ... more A 30-items and a 20-items three-tier multiple choice diagnostic test instrument was developed to detect pre-service physics teacher students' ability knowledge essential features of scientific inquiry and content geometrical optic. A mixed method quantitative and qualitative was conducted to develop diagnostic test over two months involving 38 students in the lecturing process of Geometrical Optic. This study aimed on the development and application of multiple-choice diagnostic test on students's understanding of essential features scientific inquiry and content geometrical optic. The diagnostic instrument was designed and then progressively refined, revised, and implemented to detect and assess students' understanding of essential features scientific inquiry and content geometrical optic. Each item of question test comprises the content tier, which measures the ability of content geometrical optic knowledge or features essential inquiry; the reason tier, which measures explanatory knowledge underlying choose one of the answers; and the confidence tier, which measures the strength of confidence in determining the selected answers and reasons. The final version of the instrument had Cronbach's alpha reliability of 0.87 and 0.83, respectively, for essential features scientific inquiry and content geometrical optic. The evidence of validity was derived from three expert lectures judgment. Correlational tecnique analysis between three validator scores was used to show consistency.

Physics learning has a relationship between one concept and another. There is an error in a conce... more Physics learning has a relationship between one concept and another. There is an error in a concept, this can affect the understanding of other concepts, resulting in low student learning outcomes. Therefore, assistance is needed to measure student learning outcomes, for example by providing learning tests. This study aims to develop a two-tier multiple-choice test for the concept of "Newton's law of motion" in class XI SMA N 1 Percut Sei Tuan. This research is a development research using the 4D model to produce a product in the form of a two-tier multiple choice test on the material of Newton's law on modified motion without including the dissemination stage, namely: (1) define; (2) design; (3) developing. The final version of the multiple choice test cons ists of 12 items. The subjects of limited scale tests and broad-scale tests were class XI students of SMA N 1 Percut Sei Tuan in the 2019/2020 academic year. The student has completed a unit on Newton's Laws of motion. The reliability of the test was 0.76. Based on data analysis, ten alternative conceptions were identified. The results showed that a two-tier multiple choice test was effective in determining student misconceptions and could also be used as an alternative to traditional multiple choice tests. In conclusion, a two-tier multiple choice test can be used to assess students 'conceptual understanding as well as students' misconceptions about the concept of Newton's law material about motion.
The Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) is an assessment of global competency i... more The Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) is an assessment of global competency in education that leads to adoption and development of sophisticated to equip next-generation for success in education and produce the world-renowned tech entrepreneurs. Asian countries dominate the top of the PISA rankings with the strongest performance than all regions in the OECD country. However, a reverse trend is observed in ASEAN middle-income countries because of disparities in access to basic education, particularly between rural and urban area, and also in teacher qualifications and quality of curricula. Indonesia is one of the countries facing this problem. The latest PISA report shows science education in Indonesian claims the 0.8 % of share top performers in at least one subject, which science, literacy and math. Indonesia's average ranking across the three subjects is 69th out of 79 countries PISA. This score is lower than Singapore, 1st rank in applied PISA to education system in world. In consequent of the current curriculum system does not accustom students to works on a problem that can encourage, stimulate, and analyse a problem using high-level comprehension skill. So, these problems require further analysis by finding a solution to the problem involves constructing system, knowledge, and competencies that will transform the current curriculum to reach the aims of PISA.

The study was conducted on the eighth-grade students of Tunas Harapan Private Middle School in Sayurmatinggi Village, Ujung Padang Learning Year 2018/2019. This type of research includes quasi-experimental, quasi-experimental research design with two groups pretest-posttest design. The research instrument used was essay-shaped test for science process skills and students' creative thinking abilities. The conclusions obtained are; (1) Students' physical science process skills with scientific inquiry learning using mind mapping are better than science process skills students use conventional models; (2) Science process skills of students in the group of creative thinking skills above the average are better than the creative thinking skills below the average; (3) In this study, creative thinking skills above the dominant average improve the science process skills of students in the scientific inquiry model using mind mapping rather than in conventional learning.

The aim is to measure understanding of the concept, the reasons underlying the determination of the measured concept and the confidence in confirming the relationship between the truth of concept knowledge and reason for answering. The construct of the item involves multi representations (verbal, formal, graphic, and numeric) by connecting two representations in one item. The development of the problem considers three validities, namely content, construct and user validity. Test reliability uses the Cronbach alpha formula. The results showed that the content validity considered by the validator had fulfilled the validity requirements according to the proposed method. Content validity reviews the correlation between the concept content of one representation and other relevant or interrelated concept representations. Validity from the user considers the empirical understanding between the representation of concept components assessed and the representation of reasons relevant to improvements in terms of language and content correlation understanding. Data from each item can be used to trace whether there is a misunderstanding concept or the presence of alternative concepts

Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 7 Medan semester II tahun ajaran 2017/2018. Teknik pengambilan sampel dalam penelitian menggunakan cluster random class, kelas eksperimen menggunakan model pembelajaran collaborative inquiry dan kelas kontrol menggunakan pembelajaran konvensional. Variabel dalam penelitian terdiri dari keterampilan 4C sebagai variabel terikat dan model collaborative inquiry sebagai variabel bebas. Data dalam penelitian ini dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji-t satu pihak. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keterampilan 4C siswa dengan model pembelajaran collaborative inquiry lebih baik dibandingkan dengan keterampilan 4C siswa dengan pembelajaran konvensional.

The purpose of this study is to know about the eligibility and effectivity of magnetic induction ... more The purpose of this study is to know about the eligibility and effectivity of magnetic induction practicum tool on solenoid which was accompanied by student's worksheet (LKPD) to explore students conceptual understanding. The method used in this study was ADDIE Developmet Model. Before it used for more, the practicum tool and LKPD must be testedthe feasibility by seven professional Physics teachers as the validator. The student's responses were also used to see the feasibility for the practicum tool after the practicum process to be held. Based on result of this study showed that the feasibility for the practicum tool tested by validators got 1.00 and the practicum tool has proper specification to determine the magnetic field on the solenoid. In the form of variation of resemble of turns, current and the length of solenoid. The score of students worksheet got 1.00, so it can conclude that the electromagnetic induction practicum tool on solenoid and students worksheet were in very feasible criteria. The students responses were 0.88 it also very feasible. Gain test result showed that there an increased understanding of students concept after learning using magnetic induction practicum tools of 0.45 and in mastery got 70%. It means in each criteria were at medium. It show that magnetic induction practicum on solenoid can increase the exploring of students conceptual understanding.

In the analysis stage, the results obtained are minimal variations in the assessment and students are still lacking in obtaining physics questions for high-level knowledge of the temperature and heat material. The material about physics developed includes temperature, heat, expansion, Black's Principle, heat transfer, changes in the state of matter, ideal gases and thermodynamics. In the design phase, 50 items were obtained based on high-level knowledge analysis. The development stage obtained 38 items in the very valid category with a percentage of 92.4% based on content validation by 3 experts, both in terms of material, construct, and language. The results of the implementation and evaluation stages show that of the 50 items developed, 39 items have met the criteria for good test quality, based on the validity, reliability, discriminating power, level of difficulty, and effectiveness of distractors in small group trials and group trials big.
Critical thinking skills is one way to be able to understand the scientific concepts that exist i... more Critical thinking skills is one way to be able to understand the scientific concepts that exist in physics content as a whole in this case represented by motion content. The aim of the research is to find critical thinking skills behind success and failure in understanding the motion concepts of prospective science teachers. The concept of mechanical motion is expressed in verbal, formal, graphical, and numerical representations. The concept of motion is the subject of the problem in the first tier of the test item. The second tier of the test item measures one of the four critical thinking skills that are relevant to the subject matter. The critical thinking skills studied are reasoning effectively, using systems of thinking, making judgments and decisions, and solving problem. The results of the study show coherence between the ability to understand concepts and critical thinking skills expressed by the correlation index. The magnitude of the correlation index shows the level of coherence between understanding the concept and the underlying critical thinking skills. Empirical data shows a high correlation value between verbal representation and reasoning effectively, formal representation with using system thinking, graph representation with making judgments and decision, and numerical representation with the solving problem skills.

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan dengan menggunakan model pengembangan analysis, design, developmen, implementation, evaluate (ADDIE). Prosedur pengembangan produk melalui tahap analisis hingga evaluasi. Tahap analisis dilakukan analisis kebutuhan, analisis kurikulum, analisis strudi literatur dan analisis siswa. Prosedur desain yaitu penentuan indicator yang akan digunakan, penyusunan kisi-kisi. Prosedur selanjutnya tahap pengembangan menyusun instrumen, validasi pakar selanjutnya tahap penerapan uji coba produk pada siswa. Tahap terakhir adalah evaluasi instrumen melalui angket respon guru dan peserta didik terhadap instrumen yang diberikan. Instrumen yang dikembangkan sebanyak 8 soal dari 10 soal dan telah divalidkan oleh validator. Validitas yang diperoleh dari 8 soal adalah 7 soal valid dan 1 soal tidak valid. Selanjutnya nilai reliabilitas yang diperoleh cukup tinggi dengan nilai reliabilitas sebesar 0,70.

A mixed method quantitative and qualitative was conducted to develop diagnostic test over two months involving 38 students in the lecturing process of Geometrical Optic. This study aimed on the development and application of multiple-choice diagnostic test on students's understanding of essential features scientific inquiry and content geometrical optic. The diagnostic instrument was designed and then progressively refined, revised, and implemented to detect and assess students' understanding of essential features scientific inquiry and content geometrical optic. Each item of question test comprises the content tier, which measures the ability of content geometrical optic knowledge or features essential inquiry; the reason tier, which measures explanatory knowledge underlying choose one of the answers; and the confidence tier, which measures the strength of confidence in determining the selected answers and reasons. The final version of the instrument had Cronbach's alpha reliability of 0.87 and 0.83, respectively, for essential features scientific inquiry and content geometrical optic. The evidence of validity was derived from three expert lectures judgment. Correlational tecnique analysis between three validator scores was used to show consistency.

There is an error in a concept, this can affect the understanding of other concepts, resulting in low student learning outcomes. Therefore, assistance is needed to measure student learning outcomes, for example by providing learning tests. This study aims to develop a two-tier multiple-choice test for the concept of "Newton's law of motion" in class XI SMA N 1 Percut Sei Tuan. This research is a development research using the 4D model to produce a product in the form of a two-tier multiple choice test on the material of Newton's law on modified motion without including the dissemination stage, namely: (1) define; (2) design; (3) developing. The final version of the multiple choice test cons ists of 12 items. The subjects of limited scale tests and broad-scale tests were class XI students of SMA N 1 Percut Sei Tuan in the 2019/2020 academic year. The student has completed a unit on Newton's Laws of motion. The reliability of the test was 0.76. Based on data analysis, ten alternative conceptions were identified. The results showed that a two-tier multiple choice test was effective in determining student misconceptions and could also be used as an alternative to traditional multiple choice tests. In conclusion, a two-tier multiple choice test can be used to assess students 'conceptual understanding as well as students' misconceptions about the concept of Newton's law material about motion.

Asian countries dominate the top of the PISA rankings with the strongest performance than all regions in the OECD country. However, a reverse trend is observed in ASEAN middle-income countries because of disparities in access to basic education, particularly between rural and urban area, and also in teacher qualifications and quality of curricula. Indonesia is one of the countries facing this problem. The latest PISA report shows science education in Indonesian claims the 0.8 % of share top performers in at least one subject, which science, literacy and math. Indonesia's average ranking across the three subjects is 69th out of 79 countries PISA. This score is lower than Singapore, 1st rank in applied PISA to education system in world. In consequent of the current curriculum system does not accustom students to works on a problem that can encourage, stimulate, and analyse a problem using high-level comprehension skill. So, these problems require further analysis by finding a solution to the problem involves constructing system, knowledge, and competencies that will transform the current curriculum to reach the aims of PISA.

The study was conducted on the eighth-grade students of Tunas Harapan Private Middle School in Sayurmatinggi Village, Ujung Padang Learning Year 2018/2019. This type of research includes quasi-experimental, quasi-experimental research design with two groups pretest-posttest design. The research instrument used was essay-shaped test for science process skills and students' creative thinking abilities. The conclusions obtained are; (1) Students' physical science process skills with scientific inquiry learning using mind mapping are better than science process skills students use conventional models; (2) Science process skills of students in the group of creative thinking skills above the average are better than the creative thinking skills below the average; (3) In this study, creative thinking skills above the dominant average improve the science process skills of students in the scientific inquiry model using mind mapping rather than in conventional learning.

The aim is to measure understanding of the concept, the reasons underlying the determination of the measured concept and the confidence in confirming the relationship between the truth of concept knowledge and reason for answering. The construct of the item involves multi representations (verbal, formal, graphic, and numeric) by connecting two representations in one item. The development of the problem considers three validities, namely content, construct and user validity. Test reliability uses the Cronbach alpha formula. The results showed that the content validity considered by the validator had fulfilled the validity requirements according to the proposed method. Content validity reviews the correlation between the concept content of one representation and other relevant or interrelated concept representations. Validity from the user considers the empirical understanding between the representation of concept components assessed and the representation of reasons relevant to improvements in terms of language and content correlation understanding. Data from each item can be used to trace whether there is a misunderstanding concept or the presence of alternative concepts

Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 7 Medan semester II tahun ajaran 2017/2018. Teknik pengambilan sampel dalam penelitian menggunakan cluster random class, kelas eksperimen menggunakan model pembelajaran collaborative inquiry dan kelas kontrol menggunakan pembelajaran konvensional. Variabel dalam penelitian terdiri dari keterampilan 4C sebagai variabel terikat dan model collaborative inquiry sebagai variabel bebas. Data dalam penelitian ini dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji-t satu pihak. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keterampilan 4C siswa dengan model pembelajaran collaborative inquiry lebih baik dibandingkan dengan keterampilan 4C siswa dengan pembelajaran konvensional.

The purpose of this study is to know about the eligibility and effectivity of magnetic induction ... more The purpose of this study is to know about the eligibility and effectivity of magnetic induction practicum tool on solenoid which was accompanied by student's worksheet (LKPD) to explore students conceptual understanding. The method used in this study was ADDIE Developmet Model. Before it used for more, the practicum tool and LKPD must be testedthe feasibility by seven professional Physics teachers as the validator. The student's responses were also used to see the feasibility for the practicum tool after the practicum process to be held. Based on result of this study showed that the feasibility for the practicum tool tested by validators got 1.00 and the practicum tool has proper specification to determine the magnetic field on the solenoid. In the form of variation of resemble of turns, current and the length of solenoid. The score of students worksheet got 1.00, so it can conclude that the electromagnetic induction practicum tool on solenoid and students worksheet were in very feasible criteria. The students responses were 0.88 it also very feasible. Gain test result showed that there an increased understanding of students concept after learning using magnetic induction practicum tools of 0.45 and in mastery got 70%. It means in each criteria were at medium. It show that magnetic induction practicum on solenoid can increase the exploring of students conceptual understanding.
