To Know how Frequently LIS Student visit library 2, To investigate purpose of seeking information of LIS students and what type of information resources they usually access. 3. To identify which type of information formats used by LIS students. 4. To find out the problems faced by the LIS students while seeking information the study is based on survey method. The researchers have created a well-structured questionnaire after analyzing a number of academic works. The targeted the population consisted of final-year students in the Department of LIS at the University of Sindh Jamshoro. In order to get to the inference. Simple random survey method was used to collect the data. In order to collect the data investigators visited BLIS class rooms and distributed 85 questionnaires and response rate were 100 % The information gathered from the responses was evaluated using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS), version 23, to analyze the data. Frequency and percentile technique have been employed to analyze the data. It was revealed from the data that (52 %) of LIS Students visit the library on daily basis, followed by 30 (35 %) who visit the library 2-4 times a week it was also indicated that (52 %) access books as most required information sources, followed by 18 (21%) who access databases while 10 (11 %) mostly access Journal articles, on the response about the statement the information formats used by the LIS Students it was revealed from the data that (47 %) Students use Lecture Notes as a easily available information format while (35 %) students use internet as a convenient information format. Study also reveals the response about problems faced by the participants it was revealed from the data that (47 %) participants indicated that lack of latest information material is the major problem in seminar library faced by the students while (35 %) responded in favor of the statement about inadequate facilities in the library is second major problem. The study is based on the literature review. In order to get to inference the following objectives were analyzed:1. To identify the purpose of using Social Networking Sites by libraries and information center. 2. To know the benefits of Social Networking Sites. 3. To investigate the problems being faced by librarians using Social Networking Sites. In order to achieve the objectives of the study various papers of various authors have been observed, explored and thoroughly studied. It was explored that the most of the papers have revealed that social media networking sites are used to be in touch with the libraries and librarians so that the demands of the users may be fulfilled. It was also revealed that social media is a strong new way of communication, and the number of users famous on social media sites are rapidly increasing and the social media networking sites are useful for getting information remotely. The authors have identified and explored that social media networking sites are very useful to get relevant information on request. It was also observed that the social networking sites are good to make social and academic relations in educational environment. The study further investigated that time is precious to provide latest information to library users the libraries face power outrage / electricity problems to be connected with the users. It further revealed that it is difficult to use social media networking sites in remote areas where there is no electricity and internet connectivity. Keeping in view the studies it has been suggested that to fulfill the requirement of the common people, the remote areas be connected via internet and ensure the use of the social media networking sites like Facebook, YouTube LinkedIn, twitter, WhatsApp to get the latest information and be connected with the world.
The aim of this study was to examine the attitude of librarians and information professionals tow... more The aim of this study was to examine the attitude of librarians and information professionals towards marketing and to know how the concept of marketing is applied in practice to the university libraries of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Pakistan. Design/methodology/approach: The study is based on a survey questionnaire. Total population of the study is consisted of 110 library professionals of the fifteen public sector universities of KP. The target population is consisted of all the information professionals who had at least a postgraduate degree in library and information science. A total of 96 questionnaires were received back dully filled in, of which 90 of the questionnaires were found valid for analysis. The response rate was found to be 87%. Research limitations: The study is limited to those university information professionals who had at least a postgraduate degree in library and information science. Key findings: The study found that information professionals of university libraries had a positive attitude towards marketing in libraries. Lack of relevant skills and exposure on the concept of marketing discourages the information professionals from embracing the principles of marketing in their libraries. The study revealed that the rapid growth of information and budget cuts have compelled information professionals to adopt marketing strategies in their libraries. Lack of knowledge, lack of support, lack of IT infrastructure, shrinking budget, least interest by the authorities and inconvenient location of the library buildings were some of the major problems hindering the application of marketing to information products and services.

Archival material available in Peshawar Archives forms a unique collection and throws a floodlight on several aspects of the history of Punjab in general and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (NWFP) and Central Asia in particular during the British rule in India. The paper describes the resources available in the Directorate of Archives and Libraries, Peshawar also known as Peshawar Archives. It is written with the chief aim to bring in black and white the resources of Peshawar Archives to the notice of scholars worldwide.
The purpose of the study is to identify librarians‟ attitudes of the public sector universities o... more The purpose of the study is to identify librarians‟ attitudes of the public sector universities of Jamshoro, Sindh, Pakistan, toward the marketing of library products and services. The data was collected through a self-constructed questionnaire based on literature review administered to all the professional library staff working in the public sector universities of Jamshoro. Results of this study indicated a positive attitude towards marketing information products and services. The respondents believed that an effective marketing programme depends on firm determination and team work. Most of the libraries of the public sector universities of Jamshoro were short of finances to be spent for marketing purposes. It was revealed by most of the respondents that information growth and budget deficit have made librarians to adopt marketing.
