The Tongan government has worked tirelessly to ensure that the country achieves and sustains industrialization to drive economic growth. This study was undertaken because of conflicting findings from previous studies on the nature of the relationship that exists between economic growth and industrialization. Some studies have shown that industrialization has a positive and significant impact on economic growth, while others have not. The study used secondary data from World Bank data statistics and specified a model where GDP was the dependent variable while industrial output, inflation, interest rate and exchange rate were the independent variables. Jamovi software was used to analyze the data using multiple regression analysis. The results show that industrialization and exchange rate have a positive and significant impact on economic growth in Tonga. This implies that the existing industrialization policy should be maintained and implemented accordingly. The government of Tonga should continue to provide a good and attractive environment for industrial growth in the country. Replication of this study in other countries is recommended and future studies are also recommended to consider the inclusion of other macroeconomic indicators such as FDI and others as variables.

The advent of ICT has enabled the provision of enriched online learning experiences. Since the beginning of 2020, the role of ICT in education has been highlighted globally and in Zambia due to the lockdown to counter the spread of the coronavirus. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, public and private universities in Zambia quickly developed and expanded online learning to ensure continuous education for learners. In this context, a study of the determinants of learning management systems was designed and implemented. The study collected primary data from two public and five private universities in Zambia. The study tested twelve hypotheses using a novel structural equation modelling approach using SPSS Amos 24 and SPSS 26 software. The theoretical basis of the study was a modified unified theory of technology acceptance and use model. The results of the study indicated that performance expectancy and facilitating conditions had statistically insignificant influences on behavioural intentions to use learning management systems. Effort expectancy, social influence and hedonic motivation positively influence behaviour intentions. Facilitating conditions, behavioural intentions and course evaluation positively influence actual LMS use. However, instructor characteristics and course design negatively influence actual LMS use. Finally, course evaluation has a negative effect, while course design has a positive effect on performance expectancy. The study contributes to the literature by providing information on how to strengthen e-learning. It is recommended that the government of Zambia should provide an enabling environment for online learning to flourish. Universities should adopt convenient and easy-to-use learning management systems.

The study employed a systematic review of the literature contained in three databases, Google-Scholar, ERIC and Semantic-Scholar. The analysis of the literature in this study revealed that there is an increase in the number of studies focusing on the relationship between strategic planning and competitive advantage. The systematic review of the literature indicates a wider gap in the existing research in that: there are very few studies that include continuous variables to gain a deeper understanding of the relationship between strategic planning and competitive advantage; there are very few countries that have conducted these studies in relation to the relationship between strategic planning and competitive advantage; the research methodologies employed in the studies reviewed were mainly quantitative; and th...

The study employed a systematic review of the literature contained in three databases, Google-Scholar, ERIC and Semantic-Scholar. The analysis of the literature in this study revealed that there is an increase in the number of studies focusing on the relationship between strategic planning and competitive advantage. The systematic review of the literature indicates a wider gap in the existing research in that: there are very few studies that include continuous variables to gain a deeper understanding of the relationship between strategic planning and competitive advantage; there are very few countries that have conducted these studies in relation to the relationship between strategic planning and competitive advantage; the research methodologies employed in the studies reviewed were mainly quantitative; and there are other sectors that have received little or no attention in the focus area. The study included only peer-reviewed, English-language literature. A key contribution of this study is that the steps, methodology and analysis used can be replicated and applied by scholars to conduct similar or even different studies to identify gaps in the literature review.

This study employed a quantitative approach using Jamovi software. Sample data were collected from 167 respondents who are in Tanzania Zambia Railway Authority (TAZARA) management using a structured-questionnaire. Model fit and construct validity were checked using confirmatory factor analysis and correlation matrix while mediation analysis was carried out using GLM procedure. The results of study present that strategic planning has a significant effect on productivity. The results also indicate that customer focus and important innovation foster organizational productivity and partially mediate the relationship between strategic planning and productivity. The study also shows that education and training has no significant effect on productivity and does not mediate strategic planning and productivity association.

Whereas some studies have argued that implementation of TQM practices improve organisational productivity, others have failed to find the linkage between the two. This study, therefore, was conducted to determine and validate whether implementation of TQM practices increase productivity in railway transport sector. The study evaluated effect of TQM practices on productivity in Tanzania Zambia Railway Authority (TAZARA). Data were collected from 177 TAZARA managers through structured questionnaires and correlation and regression analysis were employed to analyse data. Results of the study show that practices of TQM have a positive significant effect on productivity. Results of regression analysis show that important innovations, customer-focus, transformational leadership and commitment, have significant positive effect on productivity in TAZARA. However, education and training, and employee responsibility and involvement have no significant effects on productivity.

The study employed two railway companies as sample, state-owned railway company and private owned company. Using questionnaire as research instruments, data were collected and analyzed with simple percentages and non-parametric Kruskal-Wallis statistical tools. The major findings of the study were that: (a) the problem of competition and poor technology are the greatest challenges; (b) Railway companies with fewer globalization challenges perform significantly much better than those with more challenges; (c) Managers with positive attitude toward globalization perform significantly better than those with negative attitude and; (d) Railway state-owned receives government’s support but not enough to warrant its competitiveness. The study concluded that for railway sector to continue surviving in this globalization era, governments must immediately step up and render support to rail...
