The 1947 SMU Mustangs football team represented the SMU Mustangs of Southern Methodist University during the 1947 college football season. Coached by Matty Bell; SMU gained the Southwest Conference crown, posting a 9-0-2 record. SMU faced Penn State in the 1948 Cotton Bowl Classic.[1]
