The 2013 Astro Malaysia Super League (also known as Astro Liga Super Malaysia 2013 in Malay and the Astro Malaysia Super League due to the sponsorship from Astro) was the 10th season of the highest Malaysian football league since its inception in 2004. Twelve teams participated in the league with Kelantan FA as the defending champions.

In 2012, Football Association of Singapore had an agreement with Football Association of Malaysia to send a team into the Malaysia Super League. As a result, LionsXII was formed to take part in the current Malaysia Super league and in return, the Under-21 Malaysia team, Harimau Muda A participated in Singapore's S-League.

In 2013, Harimau Muda A was changed to Harimau Muda B as the team was involved in preparation for the 2013 Southeast Asian Games in Myanmar.

Astro, a Malaysian satellite television company, was the competition's main sponsor.

Teams

A total of twelve teams will compete in the 2013 season which includes the top 10 teams that participated in the 2012 season, champion of the 2012 Malaysia Premier League, and the winner of the play-off round between teams finishing 11th to 13th in the Super League as well as the team finishing 2nd in the Premier League.

Kuala Lumpur FA was relegated at the end of the 2012 Malaysia Super League season after finishing in the bottom place of the league table. Sarawak FA, Sabah FA and Kedah FA were also relegated after losing the playoffs.

2012 Malaysia Premier League champions Angkatan Tentera Malaysia secured direct promotion to the Super League. Meanwhile, 2012 Malaysia Premier League runner-up Pahang FA clinched the promotion after winning the playoff rounds.
