The 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards will honor the best in U.S. prime time television programming from June 1, 2019 until May 31, 2020, as chosen by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. The ceremony will be held on September 20, 2020, at the Microsoft Theater in Downtown Los Angeles, California, and broadcast in the U.S. by ABC; it will be preceded by the 72nd Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards on September 12 and 13.[1][2]
The nominations will be announced on July 14, 2020.[1]
Changes
Among the new changes, the "Informational Series or Special" award category has been renamed "Hosted Nonfiction Series or Special".[3]
