Aaron Muirhead (born 30 August 1990)[1] is a Scottish professional footballer who is currently plays as a defender for Falkirk in the Scottish Championship. He has previously played for Scottish Third Division side Annan Athletic and Partick Thistle after having entered professional football as a product of Ayr United's youth academy.
Career
He began his career with the Ayr United youth academy, before signing for Third Division club Annan Athletic in November 2008, going on to play in 127 matches, scoring 15 goals.[1][2] He signed for Partick in May 2012.[1][2]
Muirhead is the nephew of Davie Irons, who also played for the Firhill club.[2]
Partick Thistle
Aaron Muirhead signed for Partick Thistle during summer 2012 from Annan Athletic. In the 2013 Scottish Challenge Cup Final against his home town club, Queen of the South, Muirhead missed a penalty in the loss and was sent off for head butting an opponent.
Muirhead scored his first Premiership goal for newly promoted Partick Thistle in a 1–1 home draw with Hearts, scoring a 85th-minute penalty. Muirhead then scored his second goal of the season with a penalty against Kilmarnock in another 1–1 home draw. Muirhead got his third goal if the campaign with a penalty to make it 1–1 in a 4–1 defeat away to Dundee United. Muirhead also scored a penalty in the Scottish League Cup win against Cowdenbeath making it 3–1 in extra time.
Falkirk
After leaving Thistle by mutual consent, Muirhead joined Scottish Championship side Falkirk in January 2015 alongside former Thistle team-mate Mark Kerr.
