Abigail "Abby" Lynn Dahlkemper (born May 13, 1993) is an American soccer player. She plays as a defender for Adelaide United on loan from Western New York Flash and the United States under-23 women's national soccer team.

Early life

Born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania to Andrew and Susan Dahlkemper, Abby was raised in Menlo Park, California where she attended Sacred Heart Preparatory and played on the soccer team.[1] In 2010, she was named Gatorade California Girls Soccer Player of the Year.[2]

Playing career

Collegiate

In 2014, Dahlkemper was awarded the Honda Sports Award.[3]

Club

In 2013, Dahlkemper signed with the Pali Blues in the W-League.[4] The team won the western conference title[5] as well as the national championship in July 2013.[6]

In January 2015, Dahlkemper was selected by the Western New York Flash in the 2015 NWSL College Draft as the third overall pick.[7][8] She was signed to the team in March[9] and made her debut in April.[10]

In October 2015, Dahlkemper joined Adelaide United in the Australian W-League on loan for the 2015–16 season.[11]

International

Dahlkemper was a member of the United States under-17 team that was runner-up at the 2008 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in New Zealand. In 2013, she represented the United States at the 2013 Four Nations Tournament helping the under-23 team win the championship. She played in the 2014 Six Nations Tournament as a member of the under-23 team and helped lead the team to win the championship for a second time.[1][12]
