Bagabag Airport (IATA: BGN, ICAO: RPUZ) is an airport serving the area of the town of Bagabag, located in Nueva Vizcaya in the Philippines. It is the only airport in Nueva Vizcaya and is classified as a Community Airport by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, a body of the Department of Transportation and Communications that is responsible for the operations of airports in the Philippines other than the major international airports. The airport is handled by Mr. Leonardo R. Afan, Jr., the Officer In-Charge.
It is the closest airport to the Banaue Rice Terraces, the Sagada caves and other tourists destinations in the Cordilleras. However, the airport is closed due to an obstruction (antenna tower) at the Approach of Runway 09. Airline and flying school operators (Geneneral Aviation) which are the frequent users can always use the airport provided they avail for an interim opening or clearance from the Operations Center, Manila. Plans to reopen and expand the airport were discussed during the 2006 State of the Nation Address of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
The IATA airport code "BGN" also refers to RAF Brüggen in Brüggen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.[1][2] BGN is also informally used to refer to Ben Gurion Airport, in Israel.[3]
