Barbara Yu Ling (4 November 1938 – April 1997) was the professional name for Barbara Lee.[1][2] She had appeared in musicals in London such as Madam Butterfly and others playing parts of Suzuki and Typhoo.[3][4] Among the films she appeared in were Count Dracula and His Vampire Bride in 1973,[5][6] and Hardware.[7] her last film was Peggy Su! in 1997.[8][9][10]

She was part of a cast that included Frances Nuyen, William Shatner, Sarah Marshall and Gary Raymond in the theatrical production of The World of Suzie Wong that ran at The Prince of Wales Theatre, London from 1959 to 1961.[11]

Film and television

In 1966 she had a co-starring role in the Jeffrey Stone directed film Strange Portrait that starred Jeffrey Hunter. She played a ballet dance and girlfriend of the main character played by Hunter. The film never saw a release and has now become a lost film.[1] In 1973 she played the part of Ching Yang a cult leader in the 1973 film Count Dracula and His Vampire Bride that starred Christopher Lee.[12]

In the 1980s she played the part of May in the Australian Broadcasting Corporation / British Broadcasting Corporation co-production Tenko.

In 1990 she was in the Richard Stanley directed science-fiction film Hardware that starred Dylan McDermott and also Iggy Pop among others.[7]

Her last credited role was in 1997. She played the part of David's Mother in the Frances-Anne Solomon comedy-romance Peggy Su!, a film about a Chinese teenager (played by Pamela Oei) and her family set in 1960s in Liverpool, England.[13][14][15]
