The Carson Valley Times (CVT) is an American daily online newspaper and group of journalistic publications, founded and published in Gardnerville, Nevada since July 1, 2013. It is one of three newspapers published in the Carson Valley[1] along with the Record-Courier and the Sierra Scoop. It is a member of the Nevada Press Association.[2]

The publication focuses on visual imagery, human interest stories and pieces on the inner-workings of area events and organizations. It covers the towns of Gardnerville, Nevada, Minden, Nevada and Genoa, Nevada as well as the surrounding Sierra Nevada (U.S.) region.

Regular contributors include writers Scott Neuffer and Sheila Gardner and photographers Ron Harpin, Chris Dickerson, John T. Humphrey and Scott Warner.[3]

History

The Carson Valley Times was founded by journalist Joey Crandall in July 2013 after leaving a 10-year career at the Gardnerville based Record-Courier newspaper.[4]

It received several Nevada Press Association Awards in 2015, including Best Web Site, Community division;[5] Best News Photo Coverage, Community division (Ron Harpin);[6] Best Sports Photo (Ron Harpin); Best Sports Feature, Community division (Joey Crandall) and Best In-depth/Investigative Series, Community division (Scott Neuffer).[7]

The publication does not cover court cases or party politics and does not accept political advertising.[8]
