Chandrapore is the fictional Indian city in E. M. Forster's novel A Passage to India (1924). It is said to have been based on the city of Bankipur, a suburb of Patna in the state of Bihar.[1]

In James Hilton's novel Lost Horizon (1933), it is in the airplane belonging to the Maharaja of Chandapore that Hugh Conway and three others are taken to Tibet.
