Compass FM is an Independent Local Radio station serving Grimsby, Cleethorpes and Immingham and is part of the Lincs FM Group. It's strap line is 'The Difference Is The Music'.

Format

Compass FM sits within its sister station's (Lincs FM) TSA (Total Service Area) and the stations format reflects that.

Programming

Richard Lyon who has been with the station since day one hosts the breakfast show. Daytimes are presented by Ross Carrick (who also presents afternoons on KCFM) and afternoons are presented by Ross Garrigan (who also presents evenings on Lincs FM). The similarities between the two Ross's names are a running joke on-air. [1]

It was the NTL Commercial Radio Station of the Year in 2003 (under 300,000 TSA).[2]

Budget cuts within the Lincs FM Group mean that Compass FM, amongst others within the group, have restricted live programming. The station used to provide live radio 24/7, but now use automation (where the presenter's links between the records are all pre-recorded but made to sound live). Live programming[3] is part-used on the breakfast show in the week (0600-0900, the last hour automated), Saturdays 0800-1200, 1400-1800 and Sundays 0800-1200.
