The Costa Mesa Fire Department is the agency that provides fire protection and emergency medical services for the U.S. city of Costa Mesa, California.

The Department operates from six stations located in Costa Mesa.[1] They provide services for 110,000 residents responding to over 10,600 calls per year. 65% of the calls are medical in nature. The Department is part of Central Net along with the Fountain Valley, Huntington Beach, and Newport Beach Fire Departments. [2]

Equipment

The Department maintains the following pieces of fire apparatus: 8 engines (5 front line and 3 reserve), 1 quint, 1 tiller truck, 1 heavy rescue truck for urban search & rescue (USAR), 1 water tender, 6 rescue ambulances and 2 Battalion Chief (command) vehicles.[3]

The department contracts with Care Ambulance Service, a private ambulance company, to respond to medical calls along with department personnel and provide all patient transport to hospitals. The department-owned rescue ambulances are used solely as paramedic response vehicles and transport patients only in exigent circumstances.[4]
