Gabriel Mercier (born August 3, 1986 in Middleborough, Massachusetts) is an American soccer player who currently plays for New Hampshire Phantoms in the USL Premier Development League.

Career

College

Mercier attended Middleborough High School where he was a four year member of the soccer team, played club soccer for the Bay State Clippers between 1995 and 2004, and played college soccer at Southern New Hampshire University,[1] where he was named to the All NE-10 second team as a senior in 2008.[2]

During his college years Mercier also played two seasons with the New Hampshire Phantoms in the USL Premier Development League.

Professional

Mercier turned professional in 2009, signing with the Western Mass Pioneers in the USL Second Division. He made his pro debut on July 10, 2009 as a substitute in the Pioneers' 4-0 defeat to the Wilmington Hammerheads,[3] and went on to make 5 appearances in his debut season.

Mercier was released by the Pioneers when the team self-relegated to the USL Premier Development League in 2010 and, after a brief stint with the New Hampshire Mountaineers in the National Premier Soccer League,[4] returned to the New Hampshire Phantoms in July.[5]
