Glapwell F.C. are a football club based in Glapwell, near Chesterfield in Derbyshire, England. They are members of the North Division of the Central Midlands League.

History

The club were formed in 1985 and joined the Central Midlands Football League Division One in 1989. They reached the 2nd round of the FA Vase in the 1996–97 season. In the 1997–98 season Glapwell achieved, perhaps, their most memorable success to date by winning the Derbyshire Senior Cup for the first and only time. Trailing 2–1 after the first leg at Hall Corner, Glapwell travelled to Causeway Lane as massive underdogs against a Matlock Town side who were two leagues above. However, goals from Willie Gamble and Jamie Morgan gave Glapwell a 2–1 win to take the tie to extra-time and penalties with Glapwell keeping their nerve to win the shoot-out 3–2. In 2002, Chris Waddle played briefly for the club.

Glapwell are currently members of the Central Midlands League North Division having resigned from the Northern Premier League Division One South in 2011. After their initial promotion to the Northern Premier League Glapwell steadily improved, finishing 6th in their first season at this level, missing the play-offs by a single goal after a final day defeat at Stamford. The following season saw a 3rd place finish with Glapwell missing out on promotion by the narrowest of margins after a 1–0 defeat at Chasetown in the play-off final. At the start of the 2010–11 season, the club had an agreement with Mansfield Town which allowed Glapwell to play their home games at Mansfield's ground, Field Mill. In December though, Mansfield were locked out of their ground by their landlord, and so Glapwell returned to Hall Corner in the north of the village. Glapwell finished the season in 9th place after a poor run of results towards the end of the season cost them a place in the play-offs. At the end of the season Glapwell had to resign from the Northern Premier League due to ground licence issues and returned to the Central Midlands League, a division they had won promotion from in 1994. But they found the going tough, struggling all season and ended up finishing second bottom of the North Division. The 2012-13 season started better but manager Jason Truscott resigned in December to take up the reins at Northern Premier League side Hucknall Town, he was replaced by former Heanor manager Jamie Bennett. Bennett resigned just four games into the 2013-14 season and Craig Humphreys took the reins, doing a great job in steadying the ship through to the end of the season but he too left and was replaced by former Alfreton Town player Jordan Hall who brought Neil Grayson back to the club as his assistant.
