Ho Chi Minh City Television (HTV) is the largest local television network in Vietnam

History

Its original name was Saigon Television. Founded in 1966, the network became HTV on May 1, 1975. HTV is located in Ho Chi Minh City.

Operations

HTV has an office in Ha Noi. Its coverage is Ho Chi Minh City and 50 provinces throughout the country. HTV broadcasts via satellite, terrestrial digital, analogue, HDTV, and IPTV. HTV has one media technology service company (TMS), that is also a cable operator with the brand name HTVC.

TMS transmits nearly 100 foreign and domestic channels. At present, HTV produces and broadcasts 17 channels: two broadcast by analogue (HTV7 - General Entertainment and HTV9 - General Information), four broadcast digitally (HTV1 - General Information, HTV2 - General Entertainment, HTV3 - Kids and Teenagers, and HTV4 - Education) and the remaining 11 channels are transmitted via cable (HTVC - Film, HTVC - Vietnamese, HTVC - Music, HTVC - Travel and Living, HTVC - Family, HTVC - Women, HTVC - Sports, HTVC - Home Shopping, HTVC Plus - General information, HTV Co-op - Home Shopping, and FBNC - Financial and Banking).

It buys many foreign formats (for example, Family Feud and So You Think You Can Dance) for its content. HTV also runs a TV magazine and website (htv.com.vn).
