Early life
Michael Ian Olmo was born on March 25, 1999 in the Arecibo area of Puerto Rico.[1] He moved to Corpus Christi, Texas at a young age, where he spent most of his early life.
Career
Dior originally started making music under the mononym Olmo.[2][better source needed] He would later change his name to Iann Dior in early 2019, after being discovered by music producers Nick Mira and Taz Taylor of Internet Money Records. He quickly gained popularity upon releasing tracks such as "Emotions", which gained hundreds of thousands of plays on SoundCloud within a few weeks.
Dior's songs continued to grow attention thereafter, and he signed a record deal with Internet Money Records, TenThousand Projects and Caroline Records. Just a few months later, he released his most well-known single "Gone Girl", featuring Trippie Redd, produced by well known Nick Mira and Evan 200k. It has received over 100 million plays on Spotify.[3] He released his Nothings Ever Good Enough mixtape in May 2019, later followed by his debut studio album, Industry Plant in November 2019.[4] His next release, I'm Gone, was released on June 12, 2020, and was preceded by three singles, including the Lil Baby-assisted "Prospect".[5] In July 2020, he charted on the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time in his career when he featured on 24kGoldn's "Mood", which peaked at number one on the chart.
