Joseph-Alexis Walsh
Joseph-Alexis Walsh (25 April 1782 – 11 February 1860) was a French administrator, journalist and man of letters.

Biography
Joseph-Alexis Walsh was born in Saint-Georges-sur-Loire. He was the grandson of Antoine Walsh by his father and of François Jacques Walsh de Serrant by his mother.
Appointed inspector of the Bookshop in the departments of the West in 1810, Joseph de Walsh became commissioner of the king near the Mint of Nantes, then director of the posts, in Nantes, under the Restoration.
Devoting himself to letters and the press, author of various religious and political works, he contributed to La Mode, La Gazette de France and L'Union monarchique, and directed La Gazette de Normandie, L'Écho de la Jeune France, and the Encyclopédie Catholique. He played an important role in the legitimist press under the July monarchy.
He died in the 7th arrondissement of Paris.
Private life
On December 7, 1803, he married Madeleine Pauline Bouhier de La Bréjolière (1779–1847). The couple had three sons:

- Olivier Edmond (1817–1883), chamberlain of Emperor Napoleon III, officer of the Legion of Honor (1865)
