Kimera Walusimbi was Kabaka of the Kingdom of Buganda between 1374 and 1404. He was the third king of Buganda.

Claim to the throne
Kimera was the only son of Prince Kalemeera, the son of Kabaka Chwa I Nabakka. His mother was Lady Wannyana, the supposed chief wife of King Winyi I of Bunyoro.[1] He was chosen, while still a child, by the chiefs and people of Buganda, who had grown tired of the rule of Sebwaana, the Regent and Prime Minister. Kimera established his capital at Masanafu Hill.
Married life
Kabaka Kimera married three wives:
- Nabukalu, daughter of Ndugwa, of the Lugave clan
- Nakku, daughter of Walusimbi of the Ffumbe clan
- Namagembe, daughter of Kayiira, of the Mbogo clan
Issue
He fathered two sons:
- Prince (Omulangira) Lumansi, whose mother was Nakku. He was born at Nsambya, Kyaddondo county. He became a commander of his father's armed forces. Prince Lumansi married Nattembo, daughter of Nankere, of the Mamba clan. Together they had two children, a son and a daughter. (a) Kabaka Ttembo Kiridde, Kabaka of Buganda, who reigned between 1404 and 1434 (b) Princess (Omumbejja) Nattembo, the Naalinnya. Prince Lumansi was killed during an expedition to Busoga
- Prince (Omulangira) Magembe, whose mother was Namagembe.
The final years
Kabaka Kimera was killed in a hunting accident around 1404. He was clubbed on the head by his grandson Kabaka Ttembo Kiridde, who succeeded him. Some accounts narrate the event as a deliberate act, but the most convincing accounts say it was an accident. He was initially buried at the site of his tragic death. In 1869, his remains were exhumed and re-buried at Lunnyo, near the city of Entebbe, close to where the present Uganda State House is located.[2] Other credible accounts give his burial place as Bumera Busiro.[3]
