Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is a 2009 action-adventure third person shooter platform video game developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. It was released for PlayStation 3 on October 13, 2009. Upon release, the game received considerable acclaim from video game publications. At the review aggregate websites GameRankings and Metacritic, the game holds an average review score of 96.43% and 96 out of 100 respectively. The game received numerous awards and nominations, with most nominations recognizing the game itself, writing, and story.
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves received over 200 Game of the Year awards and is praised as being one of the best video games of all time for its revolutionary playable set pieces, boundary pushing graphics, stellar use of motion capture acting, diverse original characters with great dialogue, as well as the games story and multiplayer being of a high quality overall.[1] At Sony's E3 media briefing, an Uncharted 2 gameplay demo was shown early in the conference. Critics were very impressed with the demo, which led many to believe Uncharted 2 to be a strong competitor for "Game of the Year" with Uncharted 2 winning the most E3 awards of any game.[citation needed] After the game's release, it went on to win numerous awards, including a record eight award nominations in the Spike Video Game Awards and was voted for by fans for three wins, including Game of the Year.[2] IGN, among numerous other video gaming websites and publications, awarded Uncharted 2 their overall Game of the Year award.[3] The game also won 10 AIAS Interactive Achievement Awards including one for Overall Game of the Year.[4]
