Maiden Erlegh School is a large community Academy for boys and girls (aged 11–18) with arts (including performing arts) and business and enterprise specialisms.[1] The school was awarded the Artsmark Gold mark in 2002 and 2005.[2] It currently has 1,800 pupils, 360 of whom are in the sixth form. There have been non-stop rows over Maiden Erlegh's catchment area, the children living on the edge of Reading have no access neither does Lower Earley. Wokingham Borough Council are making a fairer catchment.
The school is located in Earley, Reading, Berkshire.[3]
At the school's last Ofsted inspection it was graded 'Good'.[4] Maiden Erlegh School is one of the highest ranked mixed comprehensive schools in the country.[5] In April 2010 Maiden Erlegh celebrated 25 years of German Exchanges with Gymnasium Schloss Overhagen.[6]
Maiden Erlegh collaborates with local artists and has a gallery with regular exhibitions.[7] The school has many links and collaborations with local and national business and encourages students to partake in a number of business competitions and challenges.[8]
