Masterpiece Playhouse
Masterpiece Playhouse was an American dramatic anthology series that aired in summer 1950 on NBC.[1] It was summer replacement for The Philco-Goodyear Television Playhouse.[citation needed]
It consisted of seven live 60 minute adaptations of the plays Hedda Gabler, The Rivals, Richard III, Six Characters in Search of an Author, The Importance of Being Earnest, Uncle Vanya, and Othello.[2] Its stars included Jessica Tandy, William Windom, Boris Karloff,[1] Eva Gabor, Walter Abel, and Margaret Lindsay. Among its directors was Delbert Mann, later Oscar winner for directing the film Marty.
