Shaykh Mufti Saiful Islām is an Islamic scholar and is the founder, principal and director of Jamiah Khatamun Nabiyeen (JKN), an Islamic school in the heart of Bradford, England, UK. He is one of the leading scholars in Bradford and is also recognised nationally for his major contributions in lectures, teachings and book writing.[citation needed] He is a scholar of classical learning in Islam and has promoted Islamic sciences and classical teaching methodologies.[citation needed] He also took up responsibilities in many other departments locally, nationally and internationally. He is also the Editor of “Al Mu’min”, a family magazine.[1]

History
Shaykh Mufti Saiful Islām was born on the 17th of Rajab 1394 A.H (6 August 1974) in the small village of Duhal in the town of Bishwanath, district Sylhet, Bangladesh.[2] His father was Muhammad Ali and his grandfather was Soyd Ali. He is the second eldest of four brothers and three sisters. He was initially given the name Shamsul Islām by the elders of his family but later his uncle kept his permanent name as Saiful Islām. On the 1st of March 1981, Shaykh Mufti Saiful Islām’s father decided to take the family to the UK. They settled in the city of Bradford which is situated in the Yorkshire region of England, UK.
Education and studies
In the year 1987 at the age of 13, Shaykh Mufti Saiful Islām successfully completed his Hifzul-Qur'an (memorisation of the Holy Qur'an) at his local Maktab, Tawak’kulia Jāmi Masjid in Bradford, UK. He also studied basic Urdu, Fiqh, Islamic History, Sarf (Etymology) and Nahwa (Syntax).
In 1988, Shaykh Mufti Saiful Islām was admitted in the grand Dārul Uloom in Bury to pursue his knowledge further in the field of Islām. This was when he first met Shaykhul Hadeeth Shaykh Yūsuf Motāla Sāhib.
Saiful Islām also studied Usoole Shariat, Arabic Literature, Advance Urdu, Fiqh, Islamic History, Sarf (Etymology) and Nahwa (Syntax) under Shāykh Mufti Tāhir Soofi (DB) and Shāykhul-Hadeeth Shāykh Sāleem Dhorāt (DB), and studied Meerāth (Inheritance) under Imāmul-Meerāth Shāykh Muhammad Umārji (RA).
In 1995 at the age of 20, Shaykh Mufti Saiful Islām graduated from Dārul Uloom Bury as an Ālim (Islamic Scholar).
In his final academic year he studied the main six books of Ahādeeth taught by prominent scholars at Dārul-Uloom, Bury. Saheeh Al-Bukhāri under Shaykhul-Hadeeth Shaykh Islāmul-Haq Muhajir Madani Sāhib (RA), Saheeh Al-Muslim by Shaykh Yūsuf Motāla Sāhib, Abū Dāwood by Shaykh Hāshim Jhoghwari Sāhib, Tirmizi by The Grand Mufti of Europe:- Shaykh Mufti Shabbir Pātel Sāhib, Nasai by Shaykh Bilāl Bawa Sāhib and Ibn Mājah by Shaykh Abdur Raheem Limbada Sāhib. In 1996 he completed his Iftā course and thus granted the title of “Mufti”.
Establishment of JKN
In 1996, Shaykh Mufti Saiful Islām established Jāmiah Khātamun Nabiyeen (JKN) from his residence.
Responsibilities
As well as the founder, principal and director of Jamiah Khatamun Nabiyeen (JKN Institute), Shaykh Mufti Saiful Islām took up responsibilities in many other departments locally, nationally and internationally. He is also the editor of “Al Mu’min Magazine”.
He currently holds the posts of president of Tawak’kulia Jāmi Masjid; chairperson of Al-Kawthar Welfare Foundation; secretary of Jamiatul Ulamā Bangladesh in UK branch; vice-chairperson of Majlis Tahaffuz-e-Khatme-Nabuwwat (Bradford) and vice-chairperson of Izhār-e-Haq in Oldham.[3] He is also the patron of Al Mu’min Primary School, Olive Secondary Schools for both boys & girls and Al-Hudā Academy in Oldham.
Shaykh Mufti Saiful Islām is also the founder & patron of Jāmiah Zakariyya, situated in Biswanath, Sylhet and Jāmiah Al-Kawthar, which is situated in Netrokuna, Mymensingh as well as many other Makātibs in Bangladesh.
Teachings and works
Shaykh Mufti Saiful Islām has been teaching the Qur'an and Islamic knowledge since his student years at Dārul Uloom, Bury. Ever since the establishment of JKN he has taught every subject from the basics of Arabic, Fiqh and Tajweed etc. through to Usool, Hadeeth and Tafseer.
His works include many compilations and supervised books such as Your Questions Answered,[4] Heroes of Islam, Pearls of the Prophet SAW - Commentary of Saheeh Al-Bukhari (due to be released in April 2014), Pearls of Wisdom, Miracle of the Holy Qur'an, Stories for Children, Islamic Poems, Clear Proofs of Allāh, Who is the Monkey?, The Miracles of the Holy Prophet, What’s with the Monkey Business?, Ziyārat of Madeenah Munawwarah and Ādābul Muāsharāt, as well as many other literature.
His first ever book written “Your Questions Answered” was a long term project. During his Iftā at Dārul Uloom, Bury, Shaykh Mufti Saiful Islām was assigned the task to research and answer contemporary Fatāwas as part of the completion of the course. He worked on numerous Fatāwas and eventually completed his Iftā course to become a qualified and authorised Mufti.
Shaykh has written several books including Du'ā for Beginners, Hadeeth for Beginners, How Well Do You know Islām?, Arabic for Beginners, Marriage - A Complete Solution, A Gift to My Youngsters, Treasures of the Holy Qur'an, Pearls of Luqmān, Advice for the Students of Knowledge and Travel Companion.
